Canucks / Sabres trade:

Postby Sabresfan10 on Mon Feb 27, 2012 2:55 pm

First and foremost I am a Sabres fan with some info and questions:

here is some info:

Gragani: he is a good puck moving D. Not very good in corners in his own end and needs to get tougher.

Zack Kassian: I heard exactly what TSN said on Tradecentre today. What Ray Ferrario said was 100% wrong ..... The real scoop on Kassian is not a Lucic clone. Not even close. The only way kassian got onto the Sabres roster is because of injuries / Luke Adam our rookie center hadnt had a point since december.

So how does Kassian play: To be 100% honest ...... he doesnt hit or even hit like Lucic, he looks lost in his defensive zone / Neutral zone, not very good on the backchecking. Sometimes it looks like hes floating around. In the offensive zone kassian is ok ...decent hands. He fought 1 time and was pretty good at it. But if you seriously think that this helps you guys win the cup is a joke .....I bet you he gets sent down to your AHL team. This guy in not a Lucic clone or even close. Sabres fans were way to high / loved this kid for no reason. Im not tryingt to spam ..... I am seriously being honest.

the question: Cody Hodgson-

is this guy any good and can he be a top line center??

I say throw him right away with Vanek / Pominville.

(please be nice)

Cody will be great in the weak eastern conference until his back issues flare up and he becomes a 40-50 game a year player. :)

If I have to read another stupid Lucic/Kassian comparison... Lucic is in his FIFTH NHL season.

Don Hay who coached Lucic was another that made the Kassian/Lucic comparison.

I would obviously consider that best case scenario.

Oh back issues arent good .... Has he been playing recently or no really because of injury??

And yeah Kassian is not lucic or even close to that. He wont put you guys over the top physically to match the bruins.

The comparison of the potential doesn't bother me, it's mostly idiot fans trying to compare the guys as of right now. OMG, Lucic is WAY better than Kassian11!!!

No issues this year, but was out long term with disc issues, strained muscle, nerve damage, etc, depending on which doctors you choose to believe. Dr Vigneault thought he had a heart problem.

You are getting a very good player.

Considering the overwhelming suckage and underperformance of the Sabres, are we to assume that Cody will step in and made a sudden difference? I like the guy and all, but he has certainly had many invisible nights this year. That said, easy conference makes things easy.

yeah, I think that Coho playing with better wingers and getting more than 12 minutes a night will make a sudden difference to buffalo.

He's been limited to second team PP and 3rd line, mostly, for the season. The Canucks are just that good. :)

If he had to go anywhere, our expansion brothers is a good destination. Any chance we can get Perreault thrown in?

CoHo is a great aquisition for the Sabres. He has great vision, good puck sense, passes well, very solid slap shot (just as Tim Tomas from the Jan game) and literally, I had him pegged as our potential Captain and 1st line centre once the Sedin's hang up the skates. I'd compare him against Eberle from the Oilers "kid" line but CoHo got 3rd line min in comparison.

But now he is yours.

I expect help from the Sabre's organization when we try to pry Weber away from Nashville either this summer or next.

Just sayin :drink:

Sabrefan thanks for all the Insight..however.methinks you come from wrong mindset.
We don't need a big name.
We dont need lucic(k)
We need depth to offset Injury...this we have done.

Cody is awesome, getting better everyday. I wish him the best in his new surroundings. We are about right now, not 3 yrs down the road. We will suck again but right now we are really fucking good.
You are who you hang with.....
