And, the result? 'Ba dum ba chish' (That was a snare drum and symbol)

I would say that Gillis has learned his lesson when acquiring the geriatrics of the league

I dont think the Ducks are quite ready to waive the white flag.

A win tonight and they are 5 points out, which is a lot but they are one of the hotter teams atm.

The Ducks are on a huge role right now. At this stage, they could very well be buyers at the deadline, if not status quo.

Good on them, I knew they weren't as lousy as the club that closed out 2011

After the handshake the CBC hack ( think it was Scott Oake) asked Kesler what Trotz said to him during the handshake. Kesler's response and I'm paraphrasing here was something along the lines of "he told me that he has never seen anyone take over a series like that and that it was the best he had ever seen anyone play" . Not word for word but you get the idea. I guess i can't see Burnaby Joe or Stevie Y saying that shit and for me I always appreciate the more humble fellas.

How about saying, he said i had a great series and leave it at that. He was so smug when he said it, I was like fuck buddy you just won and are off to the conference finals why not show some class?

Yikes.

I didn't even realize he did that. That's really classless (naive?) and I also hope that he's grown up since then.

Kesler crying after the Stanley Cup loss is one of the worst mental images that I have in life, but I almost feel a sense of "you got what you deserved" after hearing about this incident.

I can't shake this feeling that Schenn is a "beast" in the making.

And that he'd thrive in Canucks' system.

And i like his contract.

To TO: Schneids + Alberts

To Vcr: Schenn + Gustavsson (Beast + Monster) :D

Gives Burkie some cap room for another big deadline, get Schenn while ya can....

Hamhuis Bieksa
Edler Schenn
Ballard Salo

Yeah, I think Schenn and Edler would round out the best top four in the league. Schenn seems to be falling out of favor in TO these days, twice a healthy scratch. The kids got huge upside and at the tender age of 22, already he's strong enough to take on the leagues biggest. Nearing 300 games played.

Burke would never make a deal with Gillis.

Given Luongo's playoff history, I'm not sure if I feel comfortable with the idea of Schneider moving anywhere. I'd much rather keep BOTH goalies for this post-season.......but IF it was possible to move on (cap permitting), I would choose Luongo.

I'm not opposed to getting Schenn but do you think there's any way we could get him without having to give up Hodgson or Schneider?

I generally just lurk, but this talk of "trade Hodgson" is plain ol' pissing me off. The kid is the best prospect/youngster -- aside from Schneider -- that we've had on this team in a decade. Don't pull a Neely here. Last week people are suggesting we package the two of them together for Nash (along with an arm, leg, 1st rounder, and your grandmother), and this week it's for Schenn?

Don't get me wrong, I like Schenn and he has a ton of potential, and he's probably wasted in TO right now, but come on. He was a turnstyle last night against all 4 lines. You don't trade either of your two best young assets for a young D who's struggling and a mediocre monst... errr.. backup.

The only expendables in this team right now are Raymond and perhaps Alberts/Sulzer, but Sulzer basically has no trade value, and Alberts is decent insurance if a better D goes down in the playoffs. Raymond may be responsible defensively, but he's been passed in the depth chart not only by Booth and Higgins, but also by Hansen and Hodgson.

I love the arguments that his speed and decent defensive play in the neutral zone make him worth a $2.55m cap hit, but with almost no offense to back it up, I'd rather have someone earning their salary instead. The guy is being paid for offense, not defense. We already have a guy making $2.5m to be primarily a faceoff/checking forward. And which has been more prominent the last few games in both an offensive and defensive role? Malhotra.

If anyone is going anywhere, it's Raymond and a pick or prospect for a top-5 D.

That said, GMMG is a pretty shrewd guy at the deadline so my expectation is that he pulls something minor, yet complementary, totally out of left field, similar to last year.

Ummm, Doc......Did you really say Gustavsson?

How about get Schneider signed to an extension and then Raymond + Rome + Lack for Schenn.

It's a good fantasyland alternative - and I guess that's what this thread is - but I'm not sure how a minor league goalie, a 7th defenseman (who you trash up and down this board I might add :P) and a forward who shouldn't be in the top six on a deep team is a compelling offer for the Leafs.

I'm sure a team like the Flyers would happily beat that return if Schenn was on the market.

Doc, I agree. I think Schenn can become a "beast" in this system. However, I don't like the "monster"... none too frightening except when he's tending. Besides we got our own "Lack-ness Monster" who's ready to rise from the depths next year to terrorize shooters.

No, I'm thinkin we'd hafta give up one of them.

And there's no way we'd give up Hodgson.

BTW it's likely Schneids only plays a few more games this season.

And ZERO in the playoffs.

So a decent backup is all we need if we trade him.

If Lou goes down with a big injury we're screwed anyway I figure....
