Does anyone here remember their very first post?

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Does anyone here remember their very first post in the world of message boards?

Oddly enough, I actually do.

It was on a site called GoCanucks.com (Brian might actually remember this site because when GoCanucks go sacked, him and Chris encouraged/recruited the posters over there to join Canuckscentral).

Anyway - my very first post was in the summer of 1998.

My handle nick at the time was 'GM Wannabe'.

I proposed a three way trade idea: (my Subject heading was: "Three Way Trade Idea! - Van/Phx/NYR"

To New York Rangers: Pavel Bure
To Phoenix Coyotes: Eric Lindros
To Vancouver: Keith Tkatchuk, Oleg Tverdosky.

My very first response was from a poster by the name of 'Captain Kirk'. He thought that my idea was pretty cool but wasn't likely to happen. Another poster, by the name of Justin, politely told me that I had been smelling my own poo a little too much and that it was messing with my head.

Mine was at Central around 2000 as poster "Desert Dog"
I made some sort of ludicrous summation topic starter about something to do with the Canucks which was apparently being discussed in another thread. Topper ripped me a new asshole and I got totally insulted and called him the troll guarding the bridge or something along those lines. He PM'd me to say read the previous posts before starting new threads.
I felt the shame...

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

My first few posts were at the old SLAM message boards. GM was there, VANFAN, lever I believe and maybe Doc too. It was around 1997 I think. I then followed a link someone posted to canuckscentral and there was Doc and a whole wack of others.....maybe even Al Gore and Angelo Pignatti. :look:

Couldn't have been me bro.

I wasn't around in 97'. I debuted in mid 1998! I remember it well because I only got into the "internet craze" during the whole, "Where will Pavel Bure end up?" mania. I remember it well because I was in Edmonton playing a tennis tournament (mid 1998) when it was announced that Bure had requested a trade.

During this tennis tournament in Edmonton, I vowed that I would surf that internet and find some people to suggest my wicked trade idea to (i.e. 3 way deal with Bure, Lindros, Tkatchuk & Tverdosky). LOL.

I can't even remember my last post...

I started into all of this back Brian was just starting the Corner. I think that he had just split from Central. I posted as Vegas_Nucks_Fan for quite a while until I moved to Nebraska and turned into Cornuck.

The site and posts have kept me up to date with the team and with city over the years. One day I'll be back and hope to meet a bunch of you in person.

Can't recall my first but it was certainly on the old internet newsgroups (which became google groups i things). It might have even been during the canucks '94 playoff run. I certainly recall the asshat Leaf fans posting in the group and I developed a good loathing for them and the team in the semifinal.

Wow...

I just googled my old UBC email addy and found some discussions I was taking part in. There was one thread in which i replied to some guy name Tom Benjamin. Why does that name sound familiar?

I remember my 1st post...somewhat. 1998

"I really hope Josh Holden makes the team. Stupid Crawford" lol

I had Clam Russell in my corner about Holden and we found out we were both up at SFU together.

I remember Lever giving me the rundown of how to post and I found a fellow wine lover in Doc. Wow...that's oh so long ago.

Tom Benjamin has a blog hosted by Canucks Corner. He was only the only Canucks blogger that CBC would even talk to and they even had him on the show. This was all before Ron McLean became a total dipshit and decided to blantantly be a dick to anything relating to the Canucks.
