Coaches can be fired...
But yeah, it seems like the franchise is just a mess.

What's really too bad is that he wasn't made their GM.
I actually expect that LA might come on a bit now. Coaching changes - no matter what the quality of the incoming boss - often have a tendency to do that.
I doubt, however, that they become any kind of force in the West.

The number of players...some vets......say Sutter just sucks the life out of players
What looked like a team going places has put it in reverse

cheers

Sutter was always a better coach than GM.
Let's hope he doesn't find his form again, pre-GM reigns.
Lombardis job is on the line come summer, make no mistake about that.

Sutter is a good coach - he just isn't a good GM. So, I expect LA to be in the SCF this year

LA seems like the perfect place for Sutter, y'know with his Hollywood looks and all!

He's playing Freddie Kruger in the next Nightmare on Elm Street installment.

I hate to say it but I suspect that LA will rally around the Sutter hiring and play some decent hockey. We all know they have the on ice personnel, adding what can be argued is a decent coach like DS will probably enable them. His coaching record is stellar...it's his business/management skills that are his weaknesses. As a coach he's never missed the playoffs when starting with an entire season from training camp. That says something.
I think were taking that team a bit lightly considering how talented of a group they have.

Bump!
I guess I was right... If only they had put him in charge of personnel decisions instead of coach.

With all the top teams dropped, LA could sneak a cup here.
And continue with the trend recently of - beat the Canucks, and win a cup!
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

Well my hockey pool will at least stay alive if they do beat St.L and go forward. Frankly there's no team in the West I feel like I can get behind and support their style of play. On entertainment alone, I think we all agree Philly is the type of team we want to see win the Cup. If St. Louis or LA is that team, the copy effect of stifling defence will suffocate this league for the next couple of years.

And this thread is exactly why I try not to talk shit about other teams a la Alberta style.
Karma.
The last time I went out of my way to shit about another teams' fanbase was during the 00's..........and after watching the spectacular rise and spectacular fall of the WCE era, combined with improbable cup runs by both Calgary and Edmonton, I decided to discontinue my trolling efforts on other message boards.......let alone talk shit about other teams.
But that's just me.
