Seriously? He's playing a lot better. But there is no excuse for how the player started the season. None.
Just for fun mondi, you should pay close attention to a different team for an entire season. You'll quickly notice most guys have slumps, the difference it RL's is always at the start so it is magnified. As for an excuse, according to RL he has tried several different summer regiments and nothing really is different. I don't give a shit about his October/November, June is all that matters. That goes for every skater on the team as well.
Well if June is all that matters, I suppose you're a big Luongo supporter after last season?
If you want to use (a 2 game absence) as an excuse because he had (minor) injuries, that's fine. But a guy who played the first 35-40% of the season at the back of the pack for all goaltenders is not just slumping through a game or two or even 10.
As for following other teams, give me a break. Your condescending attitude and sanctimonious posts might sound brilliant when you type them out, but I'll reference Luongo's playoff numbers ALL DAY to prove my point about a guy that doesn't just have slumps like other goaltenders. This guy melts down on cue in the big games, every season. And he starts every season like an un-athletic whale. His problem is once something gets in his head, it ain't never coming out.
The Nucks are playing really great right now, so its very easy to forgive and forget. But, as you say only June will reveal whether Luongo has exercised any demons. So far this season he's looked the same as always, Luongo's seasons in six words (from September to playoffs): Bad, Good, EXCELLENT, Good, Bad, TERRIBLE. That's been his M.O. for a few years. So forgive me if I can't just look at last night's box score and believe everything is fine, just like the weather.
I support Luongo, and I supported him through that BS media-created "controversy", but don't give me the "watch other goalies and learn something routine". As a dedicated (degenerate) sports gambler, I watch more games than the average bear (likely including you).
