Pyatt is definitely a better fighter. Unfortunately, with his pretty eyes, he hardly fights... Weise might not be a good fighter but at least he tries...

The problem with Pyatt is that he has the size and skill but he just does not seem to have the intensity.

Thats what I remember about Pyatt the most too, the lack of intensity. Seems he has a great skill package if he could pull it all together consistently. Still wouldn't mind having him back on the team, but I'm pretty happy with the 4th line we'll have when everyone is healthy.

One of the things I love about Hansen is the opposite of this, he seems to bring it consistently, game in game out. Sure he has on off night now and then but always seems the effort is there. I agree with ESQ, the contract is awesome too, seems like another one of those "discount-for-the-betterment-of-the-team" types, another similarity Hanson shares with Burrows!

Just curious, but is anyone aware that Weise is a rookie and not in his 11th season? My god, Pyatt is the most disinterested player I've seen on this team in a long time. I can only imagine how much worse it would be playing 5-9 minutes a night on the 4th line. He picked the perfect place to play for a guy with his level of commitment.

We already have a Pyatt 2.0.

His name is Oreskovich.

Yeah I have to agree.

I think Pyatt is under rated as a player, but he is basically the opposite of what you want on an "energy line".

He's a big player whom is excellent in his own zone and a great fit on a 3rd line of a defensive team, but he doesnt play with a lot of intensity. He also doesn't fight or hit a lot even though he is very capable of doing both.

I would like to see a guy who is a little more rumbustious then Dale Weise, not a little less.

I would love Jordan Tootoo though.

Great topic.
Hansen's speed and forechecking ability was so impressive when he first made the team,
a few years and tears ago, that I thought his development would increase quickly.
I was wrong. He just seemed to plateau, when that happens with a player one usually thinks
that his progression is at an "Apex".
So happy to see a breakout of sorts. I hate being wrong.
Burrows however didn't appear to me as having quite the overall skill set of Hansen right
away (I know he's an older vet). His progression, however, has been incredible.
One reason behind Burrows success is that losing teamwise or personally seems to infuriate
him. He seems to want to do practically anything to win! I hope he never loses that edge.
Hansen on the other hand in my opinion; just needs or needed more time to figure things
out.Expecting a break out year.
Bottom line is: similar players/different psyche/different development curve.

Either Pyatt your nuts. Also not sure what else Lappy can do to prove his is an elite third liner.[/quote]

CFP leave the jokes to the bigger kids.

Taylor Pyatt even though he is about my tenth choice to patrol the 4th line come playoff time, is an upgrade over Dale Weise.

There are many others i'd like to see in ahead of him like Dorsett, Tootoo, Moen, Martin from NYI, Downie etc. I haven't really had a good look at who might be available but the Canucks need some tenacity in their bottom 6 and for myself I'd like to see two guys brought in who can get in hard on the forecheck and make teams a little antsy out there.

I can't imagine Taylor Pyatt doing much protection. A reluctant scrapper, mild mannered gentleman. Weiss won't win many either but he is willing and has been throughout his career from what ever I've read. I guess you want a player that can keep the pace of the game up and understand when he need to become involved. So how about a guy that's in the AHL now Sortini ? He chips in with the odd goal, has the pace and most players in the league know he's genuine and will respond

I see Marchand was fined for slew footing a guy.

No Stortini plzzz... At the very least, Weise tries to "fight". Stortini loves hugging only...

Apparently the Canucks sent down Sweatt today and intend to replace him with Alberts again. This has lead to speculation that the Canucks may be getting ready to make a move for a 4th line player.

no moves until after x-mas.. preserving cap space in case a deal turns up in the new year.

Just good cap management, and it also gets sweatt back to where he belongs, which is simply "Not Here".
