When was this article written? Are you referring to the World Juniors camp from last summer? The same World Junior team that he was left off this week for next months tourny?Fred wrote: Could be, but what I observed was a very mature hockey smart player. It might have been a blip and he might have played crummy after he left the Pros Camp but two things stick in my mind. The Canucks brass signed 2 players at the end of that camp Jensen and Corrado which indicates they see the same. Secondly this report seems to indicate that he's getting better and the author thinks he will make Team Canada camp next summer. Of course he may have peaked...hey who truly knows.

^^^ one of the nice things about Corrado is that he is right-handed... just wanted to add that in to the discussion. If Corrado can pan out, the Canucks will have Bieksa (Salo), and then Tanev and Corrado on the right side.

Yeah I noticed that to, not a lot of those around. 5th rounder !. Funny when i watched him in the Prospects Tourney I kept thinking good looking players and then when they up and signed him immiediatley the Camp finished I kinda thought well maybe i wasn't imagining things. I could be wrong but I think Jensen and him were the only signies.Southern_Canuck wrote:^^^ one of the nice things about Corrado is that he is right-handed... just wanted to add that in to the discussion. ^^^ beyond the 20 year old juniors Friesen, Tochkin, and Grenier - Corrado, McNally, and Jensen stand out.
Sunday Dec 4
AHL
Abbotsford 3 Chicago 1
Lack 22 saves on 25 shots
Miller, (5) (Oreskovich, Mancari)
Ugh, beaten twice at home by the Baby Flames in the last 3 days... that sucks. In this one there were two boarding majors in the 3rd - one to Desbiens, and one to Roussel... I wonder what happened there?
OHL
Niagara 0 Brampton 3
Friesen 0 points, even
Peterborough 1 Oshawa 9
Jensen 1 assist, +1
Does that strike anyone else as odd? Nine goals, and a key offensive contributor with only 1 assist? Although Boone Jenner had only 1 goal as well... guessing the coach rested them a bit after Oshawa got way ahead.
WHL
Moose Jaw 1 Prince Albert 3
Tochkin 0 points, even

Re: Prospects Thread 2011-12
I wonder, is the stream of players heading to the ECHL a function of the Canucks organization's effort to have unprecedented depth or is it a reflection of the dim likelihood these players become AHL contributors (let alone NHLers)?
Re: Prospects Thread 2011-12
Talking on dim likelyhoods have you seen the Wolves stats
http://www.chicagowolves.com/team/statistics
3 of the top 4 are AHL regulars, only Connauton breaks into the that group. The others who we've been lead to believe are future NHL stars are way down that list & IMO that's not a good sign.
This just a guess but I tend to think McTavish is old school and maybe not the best selection as a teacher. He is a friend of MG and a past client but we've had better success with the previous coaches with the Moose.
According to that page Archibald in not with the club ??

Re: Prospects Thread 2011-12
Let's just say that I don't have high hopes for Ellington (3rd year pro still stuck in the ECHL) or even Anthony. Archibald could be one of those late developing power forwards, but reports that his skating is holding him back have surprised me - he actually looked like a decent skater from what I saw on OHL highlight packages.dbr wrote:I wonder, is the stream of players heading to the ECHL a function of the Canucks organization's effort to have unprecedented depth or is it a reflection of the dim likelihood these players become AHL contributors (let alone NHLers)?

Re: Prospects Thread 2011-12
The Canucks had a kid in rookie camp last year named Matt Fraser. In the two games I saw him play he aquitted himself pretty well. Scored a goal , got into a fight and had some nice hits. They opted to release him outright and later on signed Darren Archibald. Fraser had a nice year last season, going to the Memorial Cup, had a great playoff and got a contract with the Stars. He has 10 goals in 21 games with their farm club.
