Does anyone here even own a pencil?

Humour schumour!!

Definition of PENCIL

transitive verb

1: to paint, draw, write, or mark with a pencil

2: to plan or designate tentatively —used with in <penciled him in as the nominee>

I never read past the first definition. It really got me in trouble in grade 7 at the Grand Canyon when I asked my teacher if I could rest my bag on her ass.

Small talk between injuries? Hopefully someone gets hurt tonight so we can talk about it.

When the "small talk" takes over the hockey discussions, it pretty much kills the threads and people have sort through pages of 'humour' to find the real point of the post.

That's adding insult to injury.

Nice to see Hamhuis back in action last night.

Daniel took a nasty whack on the hands in his first period of play this season. No penalty. That bodes well.

Is Luongo injured too? Or is he just picking up right where he left off?

I could go either way on Luongo due to his up and down play over the last few playoffs but I'll let last night slide. He was in his first game since June against a lineup that boasts Getzlaf/Ryan/Perry/Selanne/Visnovsky and Fowler, most or all of which have already played some games this preseason.

May as well boot Eddie now then (smile).

Back on topic..

The best thing about last nights game was to see that our injured vets (Sammy, Hamhuis, Edler, Hank) all looked great and should be poised for a good season despite a fair bit of rehab this summer.

Hamhuis in particular was encouraging. His injury can have a direct impact on mobility but he was one of the best skaters on the ice last night.

Oh, I know it's his first game, but stinky goals are stinky goals... and Luongo sure gives up a lot of stinky goals, no matter the time of year. Hiller outplayed him badly.

Obviously I'm being overcritical for this stage of the season, but my belief in his ability to carry us to the Cup is pretty much over. I think his game is regressing if anything.

Maybe an injury to Lou would be a blessing in disguise this season, provided we don't trade Cory first...

I've got high hopes for Sammy this season. His finishing touch will be so key for Kesler's line. Can he stay healthy is the big question. He was obviously hurt early in the season last year, he looked so off and couldn't even load up his wrist shot.

Wow, the search function DOES work.

Henrik is on the injury list with a charley horse / knee.

Pinizzotto gets back on the ice with the team and promptly reinjures his shoulder. Won't be on the road trip. Looks like we don't get a look at what should be our fourth line for awhile. Volpatti gets another stretch of NHL icetime.

Rome should be back this week.

Rather than wear lucky number 13, Pinner should be wearing Bolduc's old weak shouldered jersey.
