Rumors floating around about a Turis / Tanev swap.

Normally I would brush it off but Tanev was a healthy scratch in the Chicago game last night

Don't mean to criticize here, because as a hockey fan, ( and a Roberto fan) I happen to really like most of the deals that Van and FLA have done...
I put this deal info together from nucksmisconduct.com... Looked pretty good on the fly... Feel free to correct it if you feel the need.

Bure, hedican, brad ference, robert fried (3rd)   for    Ed Jovanovski, Dave Gagner, Kevin Weekes, Mike Brown, Nathan smith (1st)
     -  slight edge to Canucks

Bertuzzi, Bryan Allen, Alex Auld, for Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek , shirokov (6th)
     - how do you feel about Luongo these days? If you're not happy with Lu... This deal is a bit of a bitch slapping by FLA.

Evan oberg, 3rd for Chris Higgins
     - a little early for analysis, but looks pretty even to me... Maybe a slight edge to The Canucks

Hordichuk for Andrew peters
        - even deal... What happened to Peters anyhow?

Greg Campbell (3rd), pick(?) for alex auld
      - Need some more details on this deal... But it doesn't really seem like a
huge Vancouver win... Woulda been nice to have Coli... I mean Gregory on our side in June.

Steve Bernier, Michael Grabner, Quinton Howden (1st)  for Keith Ballard and Victor Oreskovich
     - sorry to bring up The Elephant... I happen to be among those who like this deal.... But as we all know, there has been some debate about this one. I call this deal even.

Obviously GMMG and Tallon have not been involved in all of these deals, but over the years, (including, and perhaps especially the GMMG/Tallon era) I think the deals have only slightly favored Vancouver.
Vancouver and Florida have had polar opposite financial situations over the years, and while from a personnel standpoint, the Canucks have the edge, I doubt the Florida ownership is unhappy from a financial standpoint.

Priorities have been made clear.

So as far as being " bent over"... If $$$ is of concern... Francesco's butt may be a little tender these days... on the latest deal at least.

According to the Miami Herald, Booth broke down in tears and left his ex-teammates a message on their grease board. He was in the third year of a six-year pact. Until recently was among Florida’s core of young players. He had every reason to believe he was staying put, but it’s worth wondering why he was so upset to leave a perennial loser for a Cup contender?

@ Hockey Break
Nothing official yet but Tanev has been discussed in trade talks between the Coyotes and Canucks.

Vancouver and Florida make a significant early season trade. Not surprised,a lot of discussion around the league. Canucks may not be done.

Normally I'm not one for rumours, but the canucks opened a roster spot yesterday the Yotes opened one earlier today. Combine that with Tanev not playing for the Moose yesterday and Turris basically forcing a trade......

So, here come the 'Trade Raymond' suggestions. What is it with fans here that as soon as we have a skilled, fast, young forward we have to trade him, ie Grabner, when you know those exact same fans will be crying for more skilled forward help after the fact? Why is it that we are not suppose to have a lot of skilled forward depth in our top 3 lines? Can somebody explain this to me, maybe I guess I don't come from the dark ages of the Don Cherry hockey mind set on how to build a hockey team.

I love this trade, I see Booth as maybe doing what Patrick Sharp did for Chicago when the Flyers gave up on him and being that guy for us. The guy has a real nose for the net and may excel in a hotbed hockey environment, playing on good hockey team. He's got speed and plays on the edge should by all accounts be a 30 goal guy,. I think him and his buddy Kesler may turn out to be quite the scarey combo out there. Can't wait til we get Raymond back in the line-up, I once again love the speed and skill of this team up front.

The pressure is still on for Hodgson to prove his worth but he has a bit of a window now until Raymond gets back. I can see a Hodgson, Hansen, Raymond line, or a Hodgson, Higgins and Hansen line and putting Raymond back with Kesler and dropping that bum Manny "Media and Fan Favorite Ryan Johnson All Hustle and No Finish Hands Of Stone" Malhotra down to the 4th line.

I keep hearing rumors that the Canucks are loading the decks for an offer sheet on Weber. Even Bob Mackenzie hinted at that.

A luongo salary dump this off-season is looking all the more likely, IMHO. I don't expect much back, just more of a "phew, nice to get that off our books" in return.

I don't understand the Turris rumors, the guy is a fucking centre. We got centres coming out of our asses

According to HF Boards Tanev is also taking a maintenance day today :!:.

With Booth being signed for 4 more years I do believe Raymond is somewhat expendable now. He will be missed on the defensive side of things but offensively Booth is a bigger version of Raymond who can fly down the wing and hopefully know what to do when he gets there.

Raymond's biggest negative last season was that he did the same thing every time he had the puck. He would race to the opposing teams hash marks and the play would just die. He would either over stick handle and lose it, center it to nobody, get rubbed out by fleet footed defenders or try his predictable wrap around, and they all rarely worked. The main hope when he had the puck was that he would draw some kind of penalty. His speed will be missed on the PK and his ability to draw penalties with his terrific speed.

I see a lot of posters voicing concern over Booth's injury history but is no one concerned about Raymond when he returns? He is recovering from a very serious injury as well. Personally I'm concerned that he will only shy away from contact even more than he was last season.

Much like Raymond last season Kesler has gotten predictable with his cross the blue line and wrist it play which like Ovechkin, defenders have figured out. Booth will hopefully add more options to keep defenders guessing and he sounds like a shoot first player like Sammy only hopefully he will add a little chemistry to the line due to their history. Sammy always seemed like a rogue out their playing by his own rules and doing his own thing so I'm hoping Booth and Kesler will be a good 1-2 forward pairing that will stick together like the Sedins.

I think this Booth deal can put an end to those rumours. If this was true why would he move 2 guys who would be off the books at seasons end for a $4.25mill cap hit for 4yrs? Good luck if he wants to move the Luongo contract.

I have t agree I think a Weber offer sheet is a pipe dream at best.

If Gillis wants Weber he would likey have to work out a trade (most likely around Edler) or wait until 2013 when he is an URFA.

Garrioch says Gillis is working the phones big time right now and Hockey Break is saying we are trying to get our 3rd from ANA back.
