Career Milestones 2011/12
Here is a rundown of some Career Milestones to keep an eye on...
Points
Henrik has an outside shot at the All-Time Canuck Career Points mark. He has 669 points, and has only Smyl (673), Linden (733), and Naslund (756) ahead of him. Not far behind is Daniel with 654 points, who is likely to pass Smyl and perhaps Linden. Both are very likely to surpass 700 NHL points, putting them in the company of Richard Martin, Rene Robert, Charlie Simmer, and Vic Hadfield. Cam Neely had 694 in his injury shortened career.
Kesler who is at #23 on the All-Time Canuck Points list at 288, could pass Ververgaert, Lidster, Mogilny, Kearns, Lumme, Ohlund, Ronning and Sundstrom with a 70 point season to end up in 15th spot, and will likely surpass 300 NHL points.
Assists
Henrik continues to extend his Canuck career mark for assists, currently at 512. He will probably break into the top 100 for the NHL All-Time Assists this season, and with 60 will pass Rick Middleton, Pat LaFontaine, and Mike Bossy!
Daniel Sedin will certainly take over 2nd spot for All-Time Canuck Assists this season – he is at 404, and has Naslund (410), Smyl (411), and Linden (415) in his sights.
Goals
Daniel will pass Pavel Bure (254) on the Canucks All-Time Goals list; he is currently tied with Tanti at 250. Also within reach is Stan Smyl at 262. Passing Smyl will put Daniel 3rd behind Naslund (346) and Linden (318).
Kesler has 131 goals, and will likely pass Sundstrom (133), Morrison (136), Ververgaert (139), and Mogilny (139) this season. He may even pass Henrik, who is currently at 157.
There are 25 All-Time Canuck 100 goal scorers – who will be next? Well, the closest players are Salo at 65, and Raymond at 60, so it doesn’t look like anyone will join the club this season.
Wins and Shutouts
Luongo only needs 19 wins to overtake Kirk McLean’s franchise mark of 211 wins – he is at 193 – and he has a good shot to get there this season. He is 21st on the NHL All-Time Wins list with 308, and would pass Sean Burke, and Gump Worsley with a 30 win season.
Luongo is 18th on the NHL All-Time Shutouts list with 55 – Patrick Roy at 14th with 66 is getting within reach. He already has the Canuck shutout record with 28 over Kirk McLean’s 20 and Cloutier’s 14.

First of all, can you name all 25 without looking?Cornuck wrote:As for this:This sounds a little weak - anyone know how that compares to other teams? There are 25 All-Time Canuck 100 goal scorers
Here are the other franchises:
Anaheim: 6
Boston: 55
Buffalo: 30
Calgary: 25
Carolina:14
Chicago: 43
Colorado: 19
Columbus: 2
Dallas: 20
Detroit: 42
Edmonton: 17
Florida: 8
Los Angeles: 24
Minnesota: 2
Montreal: 56
Nashville: 4
New Jersey: 22
NYI: 24
NYR: 52
Ottawa: 10
Philadelphia: 29
Phoenix: 15
Pittsburgh: 26
San Jose: 8
St. Louis: 24
Tampa Bay: 7
Toronto: 52
Vancouver: 25
Washington: 24
Winnipeg: 3
Seems to be about par for the course - Original Six franchises in the 50s, and 67/68 franchises and 70s franchises in the 20s. Vancouver doesn't look out of place - Buffalo may have more, but they DID get Perrault.

Well, I stand corrected - just sounded low for 40 year franchise. Once again, great stats.Southern_Canuck wrote:Seems to be about par for the course - Original Six franchises in the 50s, and 67/68 franchises and 70s franchises in the 20s. Thanks S_C that was a great read! Wow, we're lucky enough to witness these guys in their prime!

Yup. WIthin two years the Sedins and Luongo will hold almost all franchise records, except the ones specific for blueliners... Remains to be seen how far Kesler can climb.LotusBlossom wrote:Thanks S_C that was a great read! Wow, we're lucky enough to witness these guys in their prime!

Re: Career Milestones 2011/12
Hmmm... these are interesting stats. I thought we would be way at the bottom.
Still it seems kinda weak as a franchise if the Sedins, who only started to fulfill (some people's) expectations after the lock-out, is already poised to take over most if not all of the club scoring records.

Re: Career Milestones 2011/12
It's crazy to see just how many games the twins have played already. I'm the first one to tell you they are great players but they really weren't setting the world on fire their first 4 seasons. So in about 5 or 6 seasons as point a game players they are already close to being all-time franchise leaders? I don't know, that just seems pretty sad to me.Southern_Canuck wrote:I don't know - the Sedins are great players, and if you look at games played - they are getting up there:Hank wrote:Still it seems kinda weak as a franchise if the Sedins, who only started to fulfill (some people's) expectations after the lock-out, is already poised to take over most if not all of the club scoring records.

You have to admit that the first 30 years of the franchise, with the exception of the early 90s, were quite dismal. I always wonder what Bure or Tanti's stats would be if they played here longer or were on better teams?
Re: Career Milestones 2011/12
I don't know. Above that 700-800 mark it's pretty rare air up there.. how many teams have a player who scored a thousand points wearing their jersey?

Seems lke the correct answer is twelve.Just 16 players in NHL history have reached all +1,000 points with one team.
Gilbert Perreault - BUF
Jarome Iginla - CAL
Stan Mikita - CHI
Joe Sakic - COL
Steve Yzerman - DET
Alex Delvecchio - DET
Nicklas Lidstrom - DET
Dave Taylor - LA
Jean Beliveau - MTL
Henri Richard - MTL
Mike Bossy - NYI
Denis Potvin - NYI
Rod Gilbert - NYR
Daniel Alfredsson - OTT
Mario Lemieux - PIT
Bobby Clarke - PHI
All in all only 78 players have reached 1000 points in the NHL:

I would find it hard to believe that Great didnt put up 1000 with Edmonton before his trade....Per wrote:dbr wrote:I don't know.
