Wow, take Pronger out of that line up and even we could bully the hell out of the big bad Flyers. It's funny how Philly always gets the reputation (to the point where Alberts over Tanev is a good idea) as a tough team but damn that line up would get pushed around in an ASG.

Canucks haven't done very well historically in Philly.

Once 'affectionately' given the nickname the "F.U. Center" to our beloved team. I'm hoping for a good game.

Which Bryzgalov shows up is going to determine Philly's night to start.

Yes, the Canucks are more the "bullies" if you compare line-ups, but there is something about the reputation that seems to be visited from time to time, no matter who is wearing a jersey in Philly.

I see the good guys winning this one. 4-2

Even better if Bobrykov shows up, since I really need to get some goalie starts in my fantasy league... :?

Usually they ARE an extremely tough team. They lost a lot of toughness in the off-season with the departure of scrappers Carcillo & O'Donnell.... and power-hitter Powe. They also have aging tough 4th liners Shelley (S), Betts(inj), and Laperriere(inj) slowly moving down the depth chart and out of action for tonight's game at least.

Still, defensemen Pronger, Coburn, Meszaros, and Walker (inj) each bring a physical game. And they still have a physical/nasty forward on each of the lines above in van Riemsdyk & Hartnell, and newcomers Simmons & Talbot.

Still a much tougher team than your Vancouver Canucks imo and they WILL lay the body on our stars tonight

.... as per 'the book'. ;)

BTW, here's an article on the photo in the OP:
Gary Suitcase Smith vs Bobby Taylor December 20, 1973 -- Birthday boy Bill Clement (2-1-3) led the Flyers to a 9-3 victory over Vancouver in the Spectrum. Bobby Clarke (2-0-2) and Ross Lonsberry (2-0-2) also scored twice. Eleven Flyers had multi-point games. At the 13:01 mark of the middle period, a major melee erupted resulting in the expulsion of both reserve netminders (Bobby Taylor and Gary Smith) along with the Flyers' Dave Schultz and the Canucks' Gregg Boddy (25 PIMs). The brawl totalled 90 PIMs, including 46 to Vancouver. Boddy defeated Bill Flett and then Schultz was ejected coming to his teammate's rescue. Also, Bob Kelly fought future Flyer Dennis Ververgaert. Another future Flyer Bob Dailey scored consecutive second period goals to narrow Vancouver's gap to 5-3 but Lonsberry had the momentum killer sixteen seconds later at 19:56 of the middle period.
You had to love ole Suitcase! Notice 3 Flyers going after our rookie Ververgaert. I can pick out Canucks Boudrias (#7) and Dailey (#3). Not sure who the others are though. Anyone??

That particular bench-clearing brawl (those were the days!) occured on December 20 1973, the day Cory Stillman was born.

Nope, Eddy called it: Gerry O'Flaherty.

Quinn was playing for the Atlanta Flames at the time.

LOFL @ "Sonny Bono"!!!

Ahhh Bobby Clarke, Canadian icon, we'd have the Cup by now if we hired him instead of Gillis.

Remember when he tried to steal Kess away and a lotta Nuckfans were saying let him go??

The man knows hockey....
