Sept 22 GDT - Canucks vs Oilers in Edmonton 6pm - TSN
Recently updated via team 1040. Looks like the Oilers will be icing the more talented lineup by far in this one. I'll try and fill in the blanks as I can.
Confirmed via Team 1040:
Dimitrakos-Hodgson-Nolan
Fedoruk-Ebbett-Oreskovich
Volpatti-Schroeder-Mancari
Duco-Roussel-Pinizzotto
Parent-Baumgartner
Sauve-Eriksson
Sulzer-Corrado
Legace
Lack
VS.
Smyth-Nugent-Hopkins-Eberle
Paajarvi-Horcoff-Omark
Hall-Gagner-Pitlick
Hordi-House-Petrell
Smid-Gilbert
Chorney-Plante
Peckham-Petry
Dubynk
Danis
I will barf all over my keyboard if the Canucks win this one.

That looks like the Oilers opening day line up. Maybe they want the preseason Cup?

Yeah word is none of the main vets play until Saturday...
I guess this is a last chance to impress for some of these guys playing tonight.

Interesting that the 3 guys flagged to compete for Keslers spot on the second line will all have total scrubs on their wings tonight.
Perhaps the coaching staff is wondering which guy is the best turd shiner.

Owen Nolan gets no love on this board. 41 goals in his last 132 games and averaging 20+ goals for the past five years means fuck all I guess after one year off. Not to mention he can beat the fuck out of pretty much anyone in camp.

While on paper, it certainly looks like we should get schooled tonight. That being said, I do remember a preseason game I believe 2 or 3 years ago where the Flames dressed virtually their starting day lineup and we dressed nothing but scrubs and prospects and we won!

Blob, I'm rooting for Nolan.
Assuming he acquits himself well during camp, why not give the guy a shot on the 4th line when other guys like Oreskovich and Volpatti can easily be sent down to Chicago and brought back up if Nolan flounders, gets injured or can't cut it?
The worst case scenario is the guy can't handle the day in and day out grind and is waived part way through the season. The best case scenario is we have a wily veteran with something to prove and a burning desire to win a Cup now who can potentially play on any line and the power play.
Plus we have cap space. There's really nothing to lose.

Herb the thing is if he sucks shit he doesn't even make the club...... no biggy. I just don't get why the guy is crapped on so much on here, on the radio etc when he has proven fairly recently that he can play in the league and produce. He has about 400 more goals than any of the scrubs he's compteting with and as i said he could bootfuck them all as well.
I have no idea if he has anything left in the tank but to write him off right now is absurd especially in light of the fact Peter Schaefer and brendan Morrison played NHL games last season and they were on PTO's with this team as well.

I'm cheering for Nolan as well. From what I saw, he didn't look slow and he contributed. I wouldn't mind having an experienced, mean son of a bitch, that could potentially play second unit PP on the team.
We'll see who's faster, Hodgson or Nolan!

Early scrap between Aaron Volpatti and Theo Peckham... pretty even.

Hodgson looking very engaged early in the game - big slapshot, and a good pass to Nolan for a chance...

I liked what I saw of him last season in the 16 games he was up for the Canucks.Southern_Canuck wrote:Early scrap between Aaron Volpatti and Theo Peckham... pretty even.

Some saw him vs the Heat and they wanted him up with the team, I agree
Blake Price just tweeted... "@blakeprice1040: that Fedoruk-Hordichuk fight needed "Cotton eye Joe" playing in the background..." about the fight
And how about Cody Hodgson!!

I was really praying I wouldn't have to watch that fucking Smyth crying clip tonight......
