Re: Dining in Vancouver
Any good restaurants in Chilliwack? I have to head out there eventually and give my cousin a visit before she starts saying how her family never visits her...yada...
So she's not a very good cook, so would love some suggestions for places to eat out there. Thanks.

Takeout: New Saigon has fantastic Vietnamese food (don’t eat there though, it’s a hole).
Hope their German Sheppard is as good as Vina....
Kidding, I love alot of different Asian food but I don't dig on Chinese. There's just so much of it out there - it all seems thrown together in a big rush. I figure spend a few more dollars per dish and get Thai, Malaysian, Sushi, Korean or Vietnamese.
Re: Dining in Vancouver
I like the taste of oriental in general... wonders if he's still feeling effects of Cialis?
BTW, NOT A FLAME ... JUST AN OBSERVATION ...
Re: Dining in Vancouver
No! I went a full year without getting Chinese takeout and when I finally did it was disgustingly repugnant!ODB wrote:I like the taste of oriental in general... wonders if he's still feeling effects of Cialis?
Shiny red sweet & sour boneless pork fat, stringy chow mien and crappy Chop suey.....nope!
Malaysian is my favorite by far followed by thai...
Chow mien vs. Pad thai????

^ Not very imaginative and a hell of a lot of cheese through the menu.
Recently a bottle of 2000 Amarone fell into my hands and while it would have been best with a braised beef of a game meat, I was craving rib eye. So for Mrs Topper and I, I made each coarse to pair with the Amarone.
Duck breast, radicchio, butter lettuce salad, almonds, gorgonzola, dijon vinaigrette
Pan seared rib eye, balsamico, ratatouille stuffed crimini, romano frico
Cherry, nectarine, peppered cognac tart, ganache, whipped cream

Only $45 per person so I definitely will be givin' her a try!Topper wrote:^ Not very imaginative and a hell of a lot of cheese through the menu.
Re: Dining in Vancouver
OK, so I looked at their website. That's the regular hotel tapas menu so the menu makes more sense. I was thinking it was a special occasion menu. I couldn't find their wine list, but I would suggest a an unoaked crisp white, something like a Loire Valley/Oregon/New Zealand sav blanc.
Some good friends helped us immensely with our move so I'm planning a dinner for them.
Scallop carpaccio
Caprese Salad
Watermelon mint granita
Tuna Tataki with wasabi rice, baby zucchini
Buttermilk panacotta with lemon gelee

Re: Dining in Vancouver
Right, this this the same place that has everyone dressed in robes trying their endless tapas for $45....If you remember last time I became impatient because we were sitting in bath robes during the whole course of the meal.
I can sit through a 3 hour dinner but not while wearing a fucking robe - if ya smell what I'm cooking.

As I noted, too many cheese courses.
How could I remember anything anyone on The List said?

I took everyone off The List when I got back from Belize after Xmas. All things considered, I should have done so sooner.
