It was the last Fed election that was the nail in the the gimp's coffin. Provincial election time now.

Dollars for Dix's

He is on record of not wanting a balanced budget - ever. Somehow he believes government can keep borrowing with no intention of ever getting out of debt.

$558 million over 3 years for increased welfare payments and family bonus.
Yeah, lets make being a single mom welfare bum even more lucrative. Call it the octo-mom plan.

$24 million ($8 mil a year is peanuts in the budget) over three years to BC farmers. Partially paid for by mandating BC healthcare buy more over priced local products. Look, if the farms are not profitable, why should government be subsidizing them. Why would heathcare dollars be spent without best practice procurement. Better yet, dump the ALR and let farmers utilized their land the best way they can.

And the studies...... study BC Ferries, study fracking, study BC Hydro.

So far, single parent welfare bums will be clogging the maternity wards while eating $20 apples and water (floating on it, pumping it and damming it) will occupy the school curriculum.

The typical socialist regimen, take from those who can and give to those who can't.

$8M to "farmers" to tear out cherry orchards and replant with whatever. I'm a farmer but not an orchardist. This game was already played in the late 1980's when BC orchardists replanted with so called "late" cherries. For many years they reaped huge profits until Washington State was able to purchase new varieties developed at the Summerland Research station that had a competitive advantage to what was being grown here. One needs to ask if BC farmers were made aware of new varieties and ignored them. If this is the case they have no one to blame but themselves. Rather than throwing money at "farmers" the various levels of government need to remove restrictive laws that result in inflated costs in producing food for no tangible benefit. There is a fixed amount of good agricultural land and the old family farms, like mine are being lost to acreages with huge homes them because us oldtimers are tired of the bureaucratic BS that adds significant cost to our operations. The lunacy of it all can best be illustrated with the fact that we used to be able to donate surplus garden produce to local Hospitals and nursing homes which was then used for meals for staff & patients.Local bakeries provided the bread and local butcher shops the meat. Not anymore. Now they use prepared foods that come from who knows where. The local businesses that pay taxes and provide employment are apparently not suitable to provide these products.

Media drives the parties and the voters. $300M promised to BC Film industry. What portion of the Province's GDP is generated by the film industry? From what I have seen they generated record revenues last year but some unionized workers lost their jobs so this becomes an election issue. Excuse me but how many forest industry workers who are not unionized have lost jobs in the last 5 years?

$352M to hire 1000 new teachers. Again bowing to a union.

Where is this money going to come from? Sooner or later someone has to actually pay for it. Who will that be??

Don't really matter anyways Topper as the NDP will be winning in a landslide. The province of BC never votes a party in but they will vote a party out. The Libs lost this election long before Christy came on the scene.

I may not even bother to vote I am so pissed off at the prospect of the NDP ruining this province once again.

The right needs to unite and they need to boot that crazy fuck John Cummins off his high horse. He couldn't organize a two car parade. Whether it's the re forming of the Socred party, the re branding of the Liberals or the rebuilding of the PC party, the right has to come together and find a good leader who is somewhat popular with voters so we can get this fixed by 2017.

Add Smart meters to the list of Dix studies.

I fear you're right Blobby. Dix would have to be a healthy white heterosexual male to not get elected in Vancouver. I'm going to continue cataloguing Adrian's spending promises until my hands hurt so much I can no longer type..

The arrogance of Campbell only highlighted a government gone stale long before Crusty floated to the surface.

BC GDP Total: (2009) C$191.006 billion
total government expenditure:

4 British Columbia Provincial 40,600,000,000 2010-11

Out of $40 billion, seems like your complaining about very little for retarded kids and shite.

Perhaps if they just increased royalties from the resources that belong to everyone including the retards?

What's so unreasonable about that?

I'm OK with spending on healthcare and education. Classes are over-crowded and hospitals can barely keep up.

The rest should be going to infrastructure and developing environmentally safe natural resource industry (as opposed to trying to chasing it away).

The NDP (and most socialist-minded individuals) always forget that the money has to come from somewhere, so they point the finger at the rich and at the corporations. They always overlook the fact that if you cater to the individuals and the middle and lower class of income families by making things tougher on businesses, well, in a free economy, those businesses and corporations simply cut back, lay-off employees, and wait a few years for the government to change. So the end result is that the little guys get hurt again because the jobs disappear.

Dumping money into welfare at the expense of the money making industry starts a perpetual cycle of borrowing to feed the ever growing unemployment lines.

I'm very curious to see what is going to happen up here in the Terrace-Kitimat area. Black has his funding for a refinery, there are as many as half a dozen different companies interested in putting LNG plants in the Kitimat area, property values are climbing, for the first time in almost 20 years the area is showing growth and people are building equity. Obviously the refinery is contingent upon the pipeline going through, I'm optimistic that the NDP hasn't completely lost their marbles and I'm HOPING that they don't tank all the growth that has been happening here. But chances are good they will, and then every person who voted for them will be cursing them as the market turns back south, jobs become scarce again, and industry leaves the area.

The discretionary part of the budget is rather small. Is that an increased of royalties on extraction operations that the NDP will refuse to permit to feed the transportation routes they refused to permit to ship out of the expanded port facilities they refuse to permit?

So Dix's and Co. are against the liberals selling crown assets to balance the budget, but in favour of selling Crown corporation assets to generate revenue??????????????????

He is also against world class sea ports being used as world class sea ports.

........unless studies show otherwise..........

I suppose if we (government) wanted an increase in royalties we would have to allow more permits to make it more attractive for investment. But how about a public policy regarding royalties? Does such a thing exist? how much do resource Licenses payout in royalties anyway? Is it ridiculously low to maximize profits for the liberal's buddies? Or is it in the up and up? Just asking not accusing btw.

I remember you telling me about the old Barrett NDP government wanting tax on the total value of a license and not just what was mined...and at first that seemed unfair toward the industry. But on second thought, if they know x amount is just sitting there and a company has the licence to mine it at will, isn't that almost as good as actually going and getting it? I mean they can sit on it, borrow against it, sell it where it is etc. shouldn't the public benefit from that as well?

Especially since we actually have human needs, like taking care of the poor and the sick and building bridges and roads that they use to get there gold to market??
