So, what do you think of the match-ups?

Real Madrid vs Man U
I think Mourinho and Christiano Ronaldo tip the scales in favour of the Spaniards.

Arsenal vs Bayern München
My guess is the Munich Machine.

Celtic vs Juventus
Pleasantly surprised the Catholic Glaswegians came thus far, but Italy wins.

Milan vs Barcelona
Is it just me, or do they always end up playing eachother? Anyway, after Berlusconi's fire sale, the rossoneris stand no chance. The Catalans will crush them.

Shachtar Donetsk vs Borussia Dortmund
Conventional wisdom is in favour of the Krauts, but I'm sticking my chin out and think the Cosacks will surprise us with an upset.

Valencia vs Paris SG
Wow! Did the Qatari emir bribe UEFA? This is precisely the easy matchup the French need to have a shot at going far. Valencia is a shambles. Paris wins big.

Galatasaray vs Schalke
It'd be fun if the Turks took this, but I think Schalke is too strong.

Porto vs Malaga
Malaga is yet another team with problems and due to failing to pay bills and salaries in time they've been banned from European competition next season. I think they're falling apart morally and that Porto will prevail in this matchup.

Ten most interesting deals during the transfer window that just closed:

Mario Balotelli, Manchester City –> Milan, 20 MEUR
Pep Guardiola, no contract –> Bayern München, Free
Wesley Sneijder, Inter –> Galatasaray, 7.5 MEUR
David Beckham, no contract –> PSG, Bosman
Didier Drogba, Shanghai Shenhua –> Galatasaray, Bosman
Demba Ba, Newcastle –> Chelsea, 7.8 MGBP
Fernando Llorente, Athletic Bilbao –> Juventus, Bosman
Willian, Shakhtar Donetsk -> Anzhi Makhachkala, 35 MEUR
Wilfried Zaha, Crystal Palace -> Manchester United, 15 MGBP
Daniel Sturridge, Chelsea -> Liverpool, 12.5 MGBP

Galatasaray just got a lot better... :o
Aiming at a serious run this year?

And what about Beckham to Paris; any one see that coming? :?
I expect they intend to use him as a super-sub. 90 minutes is a lot for a 37-yo.

So, the quarter finals are already on.  8-)

Last night Bayern München beat Juventus 2-0 at home while PSG and Barça were tied 2-2 in Paris. At the moment Madrid is ahead 2-0 against Galatasaray while Malaga and Dortmund are still goalless.

Must be a bit bewildering for all those who say the Premier League is Europe's best league to find that no English team has made it to the final eight. Instead we find three Spanish teams, two German and one each from Italy, France and Turkey.

My guess is that the semi finals will see two Spanish and two German teams. Paris SG played well against Barcelona, but 2-2 at home means they need to win at Camp Nou, and I doubt they can pull that off. Even with Puyol and Messi injured.  :|
