Connecticut massacre

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

I was just at the Post Office (ironically) and my son was stomping on clumps of snow before climbing into the car when an elderly woman came over and asked if she could give him a hug. No problem, then she explained she had been a kindergarten teacher in the US and the shooting in CT had effected her so much that seeing my brat made her just want to hug him. Not sure if the old girl slid him the tongue and squeezed his nuts or not.

Those who use tragic events like Sandy Hook to come against the Right to Bear Arms. :hmmm:
Is the great Strangelove really using the "stop politicizing this tragedy" trope? :eh:
Nah, just answering the Dude's question. :mex:

LOL, my American friends were discussing sending 30 round magazines, but I find the 52 round magazine most Economist.

I don't get why the media isn't talking about this.

Very few with CIPA make it to the age of 20 and if one does, well one is gonna be an utter wreck.

Also, read today he snapped when he found out mommy was about to have him committed...

I think I've been pretty patient.

David Wagner of the Atlanta Wire made the connection:

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national ... ain/60062/

... but where da fock is the rest of the media on this one??

I think it's fairly obvious Adam Lanza was misdiagnosed (Asperger's instead of CIPA, well maybe he had both).

I say 'fairly obvious' after reading what those near Adam Lanza had to say:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... ogist.html

"When he was on the baseball team, everyone had to be careful that he didn't fall because he could get hurt and not feel it," the friend told reporters.
http://vitals.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12 ... xperts-say

Family friend Adriani said Adam Lanza also had an unusual condition where he didn’t feel physical pain. “If he were to cut himself or even if he fell down or if he injured himself he wouldn’t necessarily know how severe it was because usually the pain is, oh something’s wrong. So if he cut himself he wouldn’t even necessarily know it,” she said.
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nationa ... -1.1221505

“Nancy told me (drinking buddy) he was burning himself with a lighter. In the ankles or arms or something,” he recalled of a conversation they had about a year ago. “It was like he was trying to feel something.”
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -Adam.html

Newtown school district’s then head of security, Richard Novia, told the Daily Beast that the disorder meant he required extra supervision whenever he handled equipment with which he might unknowingly injure himself.

Novia recalls that Adam also suffered psychological spells as a result of the physical condition, withdrawing so much that his mother would have to be summoned.

'He was very withdrawn and meek, he was one of those freshmen in very much in need of watching. he would have episodes where he would just shut down. He'd sit staring at the ground and refuse to talk to anyone.

'If that boy would've burned himself, he would not have known it or felt it physically. It was my job to pay close attention to that, Mr Novia said.

He told the Wall Street Journal that it was not unusual for school officials to meet about troubled students, but that Lanza's problems were more severe than most, so much so, that he was assigned a permanent psychologist.

Mr Novia said he told the school's three security staffers who reported to him to carefully monitor the student and 'where he was, who he was with, and what he was doing.'
If this kid didn't have (the ridiculously rare) CIPA, who does??

I'm not looking to 'point the finger' , I'm just very curious as to exactly what was wrong with this boy.

And NOW I'm curious as to why the media is avoiding the disorder and the misdiagnosis. :eh:

So wandering a store yesterday and I noticed plastic toy AR plastic dart shooting replicas are on for 70% off. (single shot, not semi or full auto).

My kid will have a better armoury than any of his buddies. :D

as long as their body guards are armed I'm sure they don't mind.
