An argument? No. Just a statement of fact when it comes to democracy.

Democracy is a system where the people decide on things collectively and elect government officials to administrate policy and make decisions by representing their constituents. Instead, the politicians and media (both sides) divide the people over minute details and party lines. People will vote for a party out of loyalty despite disagreeing with 50% of the platform, even if a rival party has a platform where they might agree with 75%.

I mean, do you really think that the wants and views of the average American citizen who supports the Republican party are that different from the guy across the street who supports the Democrats? Probably not. All things being equal most Americans want the same rights and freedoms as their neighbor. But unfortunately Red and Blue can't sit down at a table and agree on anything despite having piles of common ground. They fixate on their differences.

Politics don't divide a nation. People do.
