US Erection 12 *AND* 16

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

As we both know corn, left and right get all fucked up without checks and balances. However in my belief you need job creation first. Then job fillers. It cannot be the other way around it just isn't possible, so I do want the right having majority at all times, but to be kept in check . Because both ideologies will go overboard left alone.

Has the left gone overboard yet? I think Clinton will keep that in check. From my perspective, the right has gone overboard down here in several examples? Tax cuts for the wealthy (Kansas is imploding), Citizens United, Bush's wars, etc.

Having a left-centrist added to the Court will help the US move forward in many areas. Adding a conservative (or two) could likely undo some of the progress that has been made.

I listened to Trump's final spew at the Rep Con. He did hit on something that hits home.
He said he would not only look into but even cancel trade agreements with China that are geared for a fast buck now.
I will wait and see if Hillary addresses this at the Dem Con. (she better!)
IMO, it is the single most dangerous and very soon, irreversible threat North America has ever faced.
Look at what is happening right here in B.C.
Residential land, commercial land, lumber mills, mines, natural resources galore!
Not to mention that many of our trade agreements with mainland China involve our very best raw materials at less than rock bottom prices leaving and to make it worse these agreements call for us to take back their finished products,(shit), made by workers making the equivalent of 35 cents per hour.
The same thing is happening in the States but there is so much other stuff that gets the air play, it's going unnoticed, at least by the vast majority of the GP.
If this isn't a threat, I don't know what is.
People in their 50s and 60s, (usually the ones in control), better start thinking about their children and their grandchildren's lives to at least give them some of the opportunities we had cause at the present rate of above mentioned, they will have zero control of anything in their own country.
Again, I'll wait and see if the Dems address it, if they don't, I would reluctantly have to think Trump might be better.
How's that for a rant?
Seriously though, this selling off our countries scares the shit out of me....

Why is Trump bad again? Anyone? Or is it just fashionable to mindlessly attack him?

I'll move further discussion to the other thread as per your request.
Things that make Drumpf bad:

1) withdrawing support for NATO
2) destabilizing lack of transparency on foreign policy
3) wildly inaccurate (and often contradictory) statements during his campaign

but even if you like those, there is an element of his platform that, for me, is an absolute deal-breaker: he wants to abolish the EPA. I am part of that whiny special-interest group that breaths air and drinks water. How selfish, I know, but in politics we all reserve the right to pursue our narrow self interests.
Sorry for the delay RG, I'm here now.

From : http://www.globalresearch.ca/nato-and-t ... sm/5489890

NATO was initially imperialism’s counterweight to impede the growth of socialism around the world. After the Soviet Union fell, NATO evolved into an instrument of imperialist expansion... NATO has played a critical role in every US war since 1991.

From : http://www.progressive.org/why_nato_bad_for_world.html

NATO and the G8 have used their political and military power to impose their social and economic vision on the planet. Their economic agenda (neoliberalism) has tilted the social wealth of the planet toward the global 1 percent and put the interests of finance above that of social needs.

Withdrawing support for NATO seems anti-globalism to me. NATO was initially not what it has become. Are you saying that you support NATO, their current mode of operation or their ongoing involvement in highly controversial wars?

As for Trump's foreign policy issues, and his "wildly inaccurate (and often contradictory) statements during his campaign" can you elaborate?

Yes. As a middle power with a lot of good stuff to take, Canada relies heavily upon NATO for her security.

A cornucopia of Drumpf falsehoods is just a google away. Here's a list I picked for you, but there are others you may find more persuasive:

But like I said, for me, those are just side dishes. The absolute deal-breaker no-go is the whole "I breathe air thing". Those of you powered by the light of Earth's yellow sun can go park your Kryptonian privilege.

From the article you linked to entitled : 9 of the most egregious lies and inaccuracies in Donald Trump’s foreign policy speech. Written by Matthew Yglesias ... Yglesias!?

1. There's no screening because illegals aren't getting screened. Only attempted legal immigrants can be screened. How do you screen the countless permitted running across the border?

2. People can change their views over time when presented with better information. Many of us were duped years ago into believing various wars were somehow a good thing. And we live and learn and change our views. Is that bad, or is that growth?

3. Clinton wants to increase Syrian "refugees" and Trump doesn't. He was wrong at the amount she asked for ... so what exactly? How does this matter?

4. Trump said "The killer was born an Afghan, of Afghan parents who immigrated to the United States" ... and it sounds like he corrected himself mid sentence. But again, why is this of any significance?

5. I noticed that website likes to use itself as a reference. As for The New York Times, Trump claims they are against him because the NYT is owned by Mexico. So trump may have misrepresented the number of Somali refugees. How fucking evil of him! Hillary is pure criminal and Trump is attacked for this?

6. http://www.infowars.com/trump-obama-and ... ated-isis/ : That has boatloads of references if you need.

7. How is she going to keep the guns out of the hands of criminals? They don't register shit. Let's just ignore that she's a criminal surrounded by people with guns for a moment. Oh and recently : http://www.infowars.com/video-hillary-d ... t-gun-ban/

8. Trump isn't pushing for Regime change in Syria when he called for grounds troops. They were to deal with IS ... NOT Assad!

9. Muslims need to do more to prevent terrorism ... you're suggesting that's a bad thing somehow?

Overall I think these are weak points when you compare to what Hillary has done and who she represents.

When it comes to immigrants and refugees, trump is using scare tactics to rile his base.

He want to deport all of the illegals. That worked out really well for Alabama
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/al ... story.html

Net immigration from Mexico is pretty much zero, so that's a moot point in many cases. In the meantime, there's crops to be picked and drywall to be hung.

Add in the fact that there's an aging population in the States and new bodies are needed to work, pay taxes and pay into social security. If that means starting a process to make people who have worked here illegally gain a legal tax paying status, then it should be done. Deporting them all (and you know the government will fuck that up too) will cause havoc, cost money and not solve any real problem.

Immigrants are also less likely to commit violent crime, but we should kick them all out just in case, right?

Refugees are vetted and flee some of the most horrible places on earth. To block them from entering the country like trump is planning is just immoral.

The bottom line is that trump runs his mouth off, gets the mob angry and the sideshow snowballs. Aside from the verbal errors, slips of the tongue and other minor communication fuckups, trump's attitude and 'policies' are designed to do one thing: capitalize on fear and hate.

"They're rapists" - oh he must have misspoke.
"We should stop all Muslims from entering the country until we know what's going on" - oh, I guess he was just generalizing.

It really doesn't matter what the fuck this idiot says while he's campaigning - he'll pull the same shit if he's president and then it will have actual consequences. But hey - support him, if he wins the CDN $ can only go up.

Sometimes the devil you know ... is better than the devil you don't.

Isn't Dinesh a criminal himself?

I dunno .. faced with the choices those americans have ... I think i'd just get drunk and vote green or not at all.

Though the worse of the 2 evils in this instance is the republican party ... I have some friends living in Kansas ... that place is beyond fucked due to their tax cuts for the wealthy making them broke. The call him Sam Brokeback.
