The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

THAT... is Nina Jankowicz and she was just appointed Director of the newly formed "Disinformation Governance Board" of the US DHS.

https://nypost.com/2022/04/29/biden-dis ... er-tiktok/
The person tapped to head President Biden’s new Big Brother-like disinformation board (Nina Jankowicz ) drew fresh disdain Friday over her flippant attitude toward misinformation — and her own history of spreading it.

OutKick founder Clay Travis: “This is the new Biden administration head of Ministry of Truth … She is in charge of what’s truth and fiction in America. Every time you think the Biden administration can’t get more ridiculous.”

And RealClearPolitics co-founder Tom Bevan tweeted: “Wait, this is real? I thought it was a joke or a deep fake or something.”

Rudy Giuliani also weighed in slamming her as the “whack a doodle Biden put in charge of the Ministry of Truth.”

Author and Post columnist David Marcus also tweeted: “I’d like to apologize for this on behalf of all theater people.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said the Biden administration’s decision to name her executive director was “not acceptable” and Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson earlier called her a “beacon of misinformation.”

Donald Trump Jr. tweeted sarcastically: “Seems like an obvious and respectable choice to head the Ministry of Truth. The adults are back in charge folks.”

This nutter once judged the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop to be Russian disinformation.

Tulsi Gabbard suggests Obama behind 'Ministry of Truth,' says Biden just 'front man'

Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard suggested that former President Barack Obama is behind the effort to establish a Disinformation Governance Board, which she likened to George Orwell's famed "Ministry of Truth."

"Biden is just a front man," Gabbard said on Twitter Sunday. "Obama, April 21: social media censors 'don’t go far enough,' so the government needs to step in to do the job. Six days later, Homeland Security rolls out the 'Ministry of Truth' (aka Disinformation Governance Board)."

Gabbard, a Democrat, was referencing Obama's speech at Stanford University last week, where he argued tech companies have a hard time moderating content on their own and called for more oversight.

"Now the good news is that almost all the big tech platforms now acknowledge some responsibility for content on their platforms, and they're investing in large team of people to monitor it," Obama said during the speech. "Given the sheer volume of content, this strategy can feel like a game of Whac-A-Mole."

"But while content moderation can limit the distribution of clearly dangerous content, it doesn't go far enough," Obama said.

Obama's comments come after the Biden administration created a Disinformation Governance Board to be run by the Department of Homeland Security, with the goal of combating online disinformation.
Now politicians, known for lying through their teeth, want to dictate to the masses what the truth is.

It doesn't get much more insidious than that. A brood of vipers I'd say...

Nah, I've said before I don't think they should allow people older than 70 to run for president.
Even if they seem fit at the time, there is too much risk of problems down the line.

Bill Maher said some other things in that particular episode of Real Time:

https://www.foxnews.com/media/bill-mahe ... ion-scotus
"I learned things this week… that are pretty basic things that I did not know about abortion. Like in Europe, the modern countries of Europe are way more restrictive than we are or what they're even proposing!" Maher exclaimed. "If you are pro-choice, you would like it a lot less in Germany, and Italy, and France, and Spain, and Switzerland. Did you know that?

"I learned most people who are pro-life are women. I did not know that. Most abortions are from… mothers, people who have a kid… And I thought this was interesting, most abortions now — even when you go to a clinic are done with the pill. The pill. And pills are easy to get in America," Maher continued. "So, you know, for the people who say we're going back to 1973, we're not. That's just factually inaccurate."
All SCOTUS did was rule Roe v. Wade got it wrong, abortion should have never been made a constitution right.

It should have rather been left for individual states to set the guidelines.

Liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RIP) true believer of abortion rights agreed btw.

SCOTUS ruling this way will change nothing in regards to abortion for most Americans.

(a small percentage in some areas will have to travel a little farther to get one)

Handing it back to individual states better represents the populace.

Did you know that in most of America an abortion can be had up until one minute before full term labor?

Yet most Americans only agree with abortions being performed within the 1st trimester.

Yeah and in states that do end up making it illegal to administer the morning after pill, people can just plan in advance and stash it with their ivermectin and emergency supply of vicodin from that-time-I-broke-my-ribs.

Joking aside -- wait, am I joking? -- lots of states have never-repealed pre-Roe abortion laws that will basically become effective if Dobbs finds there is no constitutional right to an abortion. For the most part, those laws imposed penalties on those performing abortions (defined often by the cessation of pregnancy after "quickening"), but not on the women having the abortion.

Its going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I guess that's one word for it - from us that don't have a horse in the race.

When they start talking about murder charges, etc - it's obvious that this is all about appealing to the minority of voters.
