Another one bites the dust

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Saw the last electric one 4 months ago...

Oh and SNFU a few weeks before, it's a miracle that Chi isn't already biting the dust, wait maybe he is but i didn't realised. Was one of the best concerts before and after, Dirty Kurt was touring with them and we thought it's the last day on earth...

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Ornette is now playing harmony.

and at our local Relay for Life on the weekend, while some local celeb was getting his hair cut off, they played "Another One Bites The Dust". I laughed.

Did anyone else see the (dark) humour in that selection? :D

RIP Mr. Coleman.

I love that guy's music and his influence on those who followed. I'm wishing I'd gone to see him at Monterey a couple years ago.

I'm a big fan of Blood Ulmer who studied under Ornette. If people wondered what Jimi would be playing today, listen to Blood Ulmer.

Thanks for the tip on James Blood Ulmer. I've been checking it out via spotify. There's definitely some good stuff from this guy. Do you have any recommendations on albums? Allmusic guide seems to lean towards Tales of Captain Black.

Most accessible are things like Memphis Blood where he does strait blues, but yes, Tales of Captain Black, with Ornette and Denardo Coleman and Jamaladeen Tacuma, and Black Rock (funk on acid), Revealing and Odyssey are the go to's for Ornette fans.

Black Rock and Memphis Blood (with a strong Vernon Reid, Living Color, presence) are two favourites.
