Joys of a small town. After the kid's soccer practice, I took him over to a field by the rec centre where they had organized a bunch of heavy equipment, dump trucks, an armed forces 6x6, fire trucks and an ambulance for the kids to crawl all over. Little guy had a blast, but the highlight for all was the sand pile with a dozen Tonka toys.

Yup, being a father is one of the hardest jobs, right behind being a mom.

For those out there changing diapers, cleaning and putting band-aids on over scrapes saying 'it's ok it will get better' 24/7, happy fathersday.

I don't think being a mom is any more difficult than being a dad.

Oh, and I don’t consider being a dad difficult…

Rewarding, oh hell ya. Difficult… nope, not yet.

I've gotta agree. Our guy is low maintenance. Sure Mrs Topper looks after him far more than me, but the kid is not fussy about what he eats, is never a problem to get to sleep (give him a hug, tell him goodnight, put him in his crib/bed, turn off the light and close the door), and is happy to keep himself amused with a couple of toys. We take him for walks or to the playground a couple of times a day, but we go for walks a couple of times a day anyways.

A few diapers and a bath or two a day and he's good to go.

Only time he's been misserable is when he's been sick, but hey, I'm misserable when I'm sick too.

Try being a stay at home father. I worked full time from home while raising the baby to Kindergarten. 5AM mornings to get most of the work done just to enjoy the mornings with the kid when they woke up. Nap in the afternoon, work in the evening after they went to bed. It was exhausting and hard sometimes but I wouldn't have traded it for anything in the world. I can't speak for women. I'm not one of them but it's hard for them to have a career and a mom for sure. Maybe being a metero-whatucallit-sexual, you can speak for them ODer....geuess it's not about which is harder but what you do with your kids...like reading and throwing the baseball with them ;)

I’m not saying it’s easy because of anything I’ve done. I’m saying so far we’ve been lucky and things have been easy for us. Perhaps I have a different idea of hard. To me hard is Leukemia, Lymphoma or Pediatric Cardiac Diseases.

That’s hard... can’t imagine how hard.

Happy Belated Father's Day to all of you out there!

Things become way more difficult as kids get older, particularly if you have more than one. It seems that, without a doubt, one easy kid is balanced out by one high(er) maintenance. As a mother I am exhausted and so is my husband. Our boy was low maintenance when he was younger. He had no issues. Now he's 14 and oh my God. Everyone says "wow, what a great kid!" Oh yeah, if only they knew what went on at home. He is a great kid but man, I hope he emerges from his teens as capable and together as he portrays to other people. He has OCD and it's a real worry. Meanwhile, our daughter is so low maintenance it is such a relief. Hopefully her head doesn't start spinning when she turns 12.

Parenting, mother or father, isn't easy. Take a deep breath all of you with young ones. I hope you are lucky and breeze through. However, there's a reason there are so many fat, bald or iron grey middle-agers.

Being a Father is the best job on the planet, the pay is crap but it's rewarding as hell.

My girls are 2 and 4 now and we went to White Spot on Sunday for Father's Day (they of course wanting Pirate Packs). They get ice cream with their meals so I ask my 4 year old if she will share hers with me because it's Father's Day. Her response "well Dad, how about we get two instead - one for me and one for you!"

When the waitress comes back and asks what type of ice cream she wants she told her "chocolate, and I need two please - one for my Dad too cause it's Father's Day y'know!!"

When the waitress only brought one for her and one for her little sister (the extra one for me missing) she was really mad at the lady, it was hilarious. "Hey, you forgot the one for my Dad!!"

The waitress was stunned that this little girl was ripping her a new one for not doing what she asked.

But, of course, being the lovely daughter she is got out of her chair and asked if she could sit with me and share her ice cream!
