Do any of you know those people who live WAY beyond their means?

We know a couple that drive nice cars and have a kick ass house but the TRUTH is they couldn't afford to go out for a few beers! Their Credit Cards are maxed! These people are complete attention whores! Real flakes!

We were discussing going on a holiday with them (before we knew they were bouncing cheque's) and they made a big stink over splitting private transportation from the airport to the resort. It was going to cost us 75.00 each and save us over an hour as we wouldn't be on the bus stopping that the eight resorts on the way to ours. They refused asking why they should pay when the transportation from the airport is included? I said farg ya we'll go alone and the free loaders actually suggested they'd come with us BUT NOT PAY HALF!

They canceled because something came up! Ya... I bet?

I'm not suggestion you have to be one of these freaks that insists on paying all credit cards off monthly! I don't give a shit if you have a revolving balance but don't be driving a beamer if you can't afford a Fiesta!

My buddy works at a BMW dealership, does quite well for himself.

He ALWAYS mentions his character that purchase when we have a guys night.

He says there are only two options when he picks the customer up or goes to show the wife the care @ home.

1) The house is worth much more than the car
2) The car is almost equal value of the car

We do have a mortgage on the house, but our two cars were paid in cash.

Maybe it was $300 shades then.

Talking about exclamation marks reminds me of that knob "Parksey" who lasted about 2-3 weeks at C.C. until he was ran off the board. He made those really lame Canuck videos and was always promoting them. I remember pointing out to him that in his first 10 posts he had nearly used 40 exclamation marks.

I help organize our annual corporate golf tournament. Part of what I take car of is managing the tournament's finances. There is a $100 entry fee per player that has to be paid with a cheque. I always strategically deposit the cheques after a payday to prevent NSF problems. Without fail, there are always a couple of cheques that bounce. This year I had four cheques bounce...two were from executives making six figure incomes. They both had to cancel after I asked them about there bogus cheques because "something came up". Unbelieveable!

There are certainly people out there who have total and complete disregard for debt and personal finance. Guys who can't tell their wives to get a job or not shop at Holt's, etc. There are guys who can't not drive a fancy car and eat at overpriced restaurants. It's about image and a hi-flying image is expensive.

I find it interesting that for men there seems to be more pressure to be seen as baller even when they are dads and family guys. There was way less pressure to be a 'man' in the traditional sense. A guy who supports his family, takes part in his kids lives and acts like a patriarch. Times they are a changin'.

I'm a pretty lucky guy, come from good means, have a good career, financial freedom etc but I still make practical choices about lots of things because I just don't get wrapped up in material things. My friends who I grew up with never talk about how nice their homes were, the kind of cars their dad drove, the kitchen renovation etc. We all talk about the memories of what we did with our parents, the things you can carry with you to the grave. Can't take an old Beamer with you or granite counter tops.
