How did you guys find your way here?

I'm also a CC refugee, though I didn't post a hell of a lot (so probably none of you even recognize my name). Someone recommended the Corner to me when I was talking about Canucks boards, and I did check it out. But I was already "established" on CC (at least as far as knowing who was interesting and knew what they were talking about) and didn't have time to read two boards, so I didn't stay here long.

I'm happy that I still had my bookmark, though, after today. And thanks so much for the friendly welcome!

Is it just me who finds ironic all of the scorn Calpuck takes for banning people who posted to CC as well, now that we find out (or I find out, anyway, maybe you all knew) that Chris was banning people for posting here?

Very strange.

How did you guys find your way here?

As someone who only went in the OF maybe once a month or so I was really surprised to see the message on the front page this morning. I joined to discuss hockey so really never had that much interest in the OF (that and having two young kids doesnt leave a lot of extra time). I had mostly stayed away during the playoffs as the jumping on and off the bandwagon of most people was, for me anyways, taking away from what was a very good post season run. I look back on the run of 94 with great memories but it seemed the negativity from a few places was really taking away from this run. The riot at the end didnt help either. I had noticed it was pretty quiet the last few weeks though.

I did a google search with the words "Canucks central gone" and found a link to a thread at HF.

I really liked Central because it was small. I recognized most posters and had respect for most as hockey fans. It was nice that other than the Sundin thread I could log on and read most of what had been posted in a day relatively fast, throw some opinions out and move on. It wasnt like Canucks.com where a thread gets pushed off the front page every hour and I liked that I could come back after a few hours and defend what I had said or see what else had been said. Hopefully this site gives that to me as well.

I dont know what happened or is happening to Chris. I was aware he worked as a security guard although I didnt give it much thought. I certainly wasnt aware he was off work for whatever reason. I do find it kind of sad that he was willing to open up about his private life but was apparently unable to deal with the reaction from some posters.

I am of the age that I have had friends die of cancer, I have had friends die in car accidents, I have had friends kill themselves hours after telling me everything was good. I have young kids that rely on me for everything. Hockey is entertainment and when it stops being fun and entertaining then it probably is time to walk away. If Chris was no longer able to deal with the things that where being said in the OF then it was probably a good time to walk away. It was after all just a goddamm hockey message board.

Wow. The shit really hit the fan and I slept through it all...
I always wondered what happened to DOC, strangelove, arachnid etc but never asked. Seeing as I only visited the hockey forums I musta missed some of this excitement!
I used to post as Marc Crawford for about 12 years over there until I decided MC sounded so lame with the squeaky voice I had to change my handle. Spock told a story about an uncle who lost a leg but managed to turn it into a positive just before the playoffs and I grabbed that name and I think I'll keep it here now too.
Unlike some of you, I have absolutely nothing against Chris and didn't even see the shit-I-cane brewing on the horizon. I wish you well Chris and will miss central. Having said that, here is home now and I will try to add something other than fluff!
I'm a passionate Canucks fan and love to discuss our team at length.

Long time lurker and very occasional poster at CC (or BCSC of late) making my way over here. Visited the forum most every day but since I didn't visit the OF much it was quite a shock to find it closed down... and really disappointing too.

I'm glad I found my way here though and that I'm seeing a bunch of handles that are familiar. Hope more make their way... it is sad to see a community disappear like that overnight.

Strange happenings. I always got the feeling that Chris was a bit of a sanctimonious, self-righteous, jerky dude. Hard to get a true read on someone on the internet, given the nature to be outspoken and over-rude while hiding behind a keyboard, but his attitude and ridiculous opinions made me not want to visit the site. Lotsa familiar faces here though. Maybe I'll post on a regular basis, haven't done that in about 8 years!

I feel bad for all the good posters who supported your site financially, who stayed loyal to you and even gave you ideas to help with your site. My condolences go to them, you took away something that was a part of their everyday lives with no regard on how they felt and in the lowly manner that you did.

Which reminds me, I just donated on Wednesday.
