How about a thread for trivia - I'll start with this item I found while watching the game on one half of my monitor while I surfed on the other half.
Babe Dye: 0.742 Goals per Game - 4th All time.
He was a slow skating sniper (we could use him this year). Dye played 11 seasons and scored 201 goals in 271 games. What makes his GPG average more remarkable is that after suffering a broken leg, he only scored 1 goal in his last 58 games (over 3 seasons). He scored 176 goals in his first 170 games (6 seasons - 1.04 GPG).
He also held the St. Pats/Leafs team record with 38 goals in 30 games (1924-25 season) that held up until Frank Mahovlich scored 48 in 70 games.
Regular season goals per game - Minimum 200 goals
1. Mike Bossy, 0.762
2. Cy Denneny, 0.756
3. Mario Lemieux, 0.754
4. Babe Dye, 0.742
Oh - and #2? Cy Denneny? Here's some more trivia for you. He won the NHL scoring race in 1923-24 with 24 points (23-1) - the lowest total to win the NHL scoring race while playing for the Ottawa Senators.
