Summer Movies...what are you gonna see?

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Some take their geekdom a bit to seriously with Scar-Jo
Brick Top: Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible cunt... me.

Coming out soon or this summer:
The Hunger Games
Dark Knight Rises
The Avengers
Men in Black III
The Amazing Spiderman (Can't believe they are doing another origins film)
The Bourne Legacy (no Matt Damon?)
Total Recall
Expendables 2 (Now with more action!)

Just caught John Carter of Mars the other night. Totally disappointed.

I've read 2 of the books and am currently half-way through the third of Edgar Rice Burroughs novels. The movie is supposed to be based off of the first book, A Princess of Mars. It is a stretch to say it is even loosely based on it. The order of events is staggeringly poor, there are parts of the movie which simply don't occur in even the first 3 books, the whole premise of the primary antagonist is a complete sham. There was such potential there, but they blew it. Don't waste your money.

A Bourne movie without Damon?...it's just not going to be the same (kind of like Home Alone without Macaulay :look: )

But I guess considering they are about to publish the 10th book in the Bourne series it was inevitable that the lead role would change hands. Looks like it will be Jeremy Renner.

Bourne...from Damon (born...see wot...to play the roll) to Renner.

Hopefully not the same as...

Jack Ryan...from Ford to Affleck..gag..(keeping Baldwin out of the equation with the assistance of journalistic licence...a Vancouver commonality apparently so I harbour no guilt)
DeLevering since 1999.

Just read the synopsis on IMDB, looks like this one focuses on a different CIA operative.

Heard it was worth the watch but those that read the book said there was a lot left out.

Got some free passes to watch Wrath of the Titans, not sure if I want to exercise that privilege lol. :?

Avengers vs. Amazing Spiderman vs. Dark Knight Rises...

The Avengers looks sic. It's gonna be a superhero dog fight this summer.

I'm most anticipating the DKR as I really enjoy the dark, more serious tone to the movie but I gotta admit I'm pretty excited to see what they do with the Avengers.

We could see the future of superhero movies unfold this summer. The winner (especially of it's a clear winner) could dictate whether or not future movies are more serious (realistic for lack of a better word), dark or depressing or if they go towards good looking actors looking good while blowing shit up!

Hey, I have no vested interest so may the best popcorn flick win!

Saw the Avengers last night, and it lived up to the hype. If you're into the super hero / action / special effects - with a great blend of comedy, this is a great movie.

At 2 hours, it didn't seem long, and there really wasn't any down time. These are the only kind of movies that I bother seeing in a theatre these days. Fun stuff.

Maybe I'll try Avengers before I give it up entirely.

Yeah, went with Jr. and with neither of us reading the books it was OK I guess, liked the message of us creating gore-driven modern gladiators and throw away youth...

Avengers unite! tonight! :D
I love every move Jim Benning makes 8-)
