That was just so awesome.

The Oilers vintage jerseys= instant win.

I love how they didn't over do it.... I mean Yzermans was over an hour, Messier's in New York was over an hour, MIKE BLOODY VERNON's was over an hour.

It was just pure win.

Also, does anyone think the Stanley Cup is being whored out a bit? I mean I can understand it for Messier... I mean he's ******* Mark Messier he won it six times, but to bring it to Calgary, Detroit, etc, etc is a little much.

Well, Messier was the 10th captain in Canucks history....and this is a hockey board.....doesn't have to be just Canucks.

Was it short? That's all I care about when it comes to those retirement ceremonies. I love Stevie Yzerman, as most fans do, but his ceremony was WAY too long. (His youngest daughter's facial expression during the ceremony was priceless - the poor kid was bored to death, and it was hard to blame her.) To paraphrase Bill Maher, new rule -- if the retirement ceremony lasts longer than most weddings, it's too long.

I think his Vancouver ceremony will take place right after the other greatest and most beloved player this franchise has produced. I speak of course of Bulis. Once he goes back to Montreal then retires we can have his ceremony. Messier's will come shortly after I am sure. :lol:

On a positive note I thought the vintage jerseys looked really sharp. I've never cheered for the Oil but those jerseys really looked good.
