Britain and France were at war. During on battle the french captured an english major. Taking the major to their headquarters the french general began to question him. The frech general asked "why do you english majors wear red coats? dont you know that it makes you easier targets?"

The english major in his bland englsih way informed the general that they wear red coats so that if they are shot their soldiers wont see the blood and panic.

That is why from that day forward the French wear brown pants.
