FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Listened to the radio today (yeah I know) and it seems FIFA is thinking about the World Cup happening every 2 years. That seems too much so then it just becomes another tournament.

Every 2 years is a terrible idea. People get blinded by the greed.

Then in time, it will be every year.

Then it will be a non-stop tournament with every country able to participate without qualification. Champion gets crowned mid-December, everybody gets a week off at Christmas and then a new WC season starts up again in the new year.

Exactly, there are other tournaments already such as UEFA Euro. They should expand the same format to other regions such as the CONCACAF and CONMEBOL where we can have Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, USA and now even Canada. I mean to add together both of the 2 into one as it creates a larger group of good countries. The Euro tournament was exciting because it had so many of the powerhouse teams.

UEFA will do everything it can to block it, because it would devalue the Euro... er.. not the currency, but the tournament. It's held right in between World Cups, so from a European perspective there already is a major tournament every other year.

A better idea would be to raise the status of the Olympic tournament.

It's a big deal for women, but means nothing for men, as it is not sanctioned by FIFA.

Well, you already have the Copa America tournament, but it is a bit odd. Sometimes it's played two years in a row, then there may be a substantial gap to next time. Originally this was seen as the South American championship, but in more recent renditions they have invited Concacaf teams as well.

If the thing was restructured a bit, you could have that as a true American Cup, and then already have a history going way back to 1916 to boast about.

Canada will face Belgium, Morocco and Croatia in Group F
That will be a tough division to get out of. Hope the other teams will take them lightly, hardest team will be Belgium, need Alphonso fully healed and at his best. Can't wait until November.

Yeah, would have been great if they just went all in to win that final qualifying game to guarantee Pot 3.

But there's still a good shot being in this group.

The Reds off to the FA Cup Final after beating Man City 3-2 at Wembley today.

The teams drew 2-2 last week at City's home pitch thus are but 1 point apart in Premier League Standings, Liverpool with 2 losses and Man City with 3. Alas City is ahead due to one more win versus a Liverpool draw and the 3 point system.

Still, Klopps crew has a chance for 4 titles this year.

PL title - 7 games remain.
FA Cup - in final versus Chelsea or Crystal Palace.
UEFA - semi finals in 2 weeks.
Carabao Cup - won.

A helluva achievement it would be.

I know y'all don't give 2 flying fucks but I need to celebrate somewhere.

The quadruple has never been done before, afaik. It would be quite the accomplishment.

I don't see Man City losing any of their remaining league matches however.
