FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar

Re: FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar
Scottish side Celtic had "a" but not "the" quadruple in the 60's so to your point, correct, it's never been done.
And I agree on City.
I don't see them losing another Premier League game either.
Liverpool has a much tougher run ahead of them and will likely finish 3 - 7 (hotspur and united remain on their schedule) points back in second.
They needed to beat MC last week and have an unusual run of luck on top of that.
FA Cup is in their grasp although Chelsea is playing well of late (assuming they beat Crystal Palace).
UEFA will be tough but is doable.

Reds win FA Cup.
2 down...2 to go although MC winning the PL is a foregone conclusion barring a stunning series of events.
Still 2 and possibly 3 of 4 majors is a huge accomplishment.

Looks like Alfonso just suffered a major hamstring injury. There goes Canada’s chance of even getting a win.

Ok, then let's lower the bar... can we score A goal? A single solitary one.

My original plan to be Qatar about now fell through - because there weren't enough hotel rooms for the event.
Having just read up on this, it's going to be REALLY interesting how this WC plays out in terms of logistics.
For $200 a night, you can stay in a shipping container!
It's either going to be a fun, exciting melding of cultures, or hooligans will run rampant.

The games will be interesting enough - but spotlight on Qatar's handling of the event will be under a microscope.

Freedom of choice is a human rights, no?
I guess they ran out of healthy migrants to build actual guest accommodations.
Butt seriously, I don't think you can get more weird than this World Cup. I'm sure FIFA can top the corruption, though.

Yes - this will be a weird one for sure - and Qatar plays by their own rules, like the "no beer allowed" decision 2 days before the 1st game.
But - these accommodations are no worse than an NYC hotel, and if the 'community' thing works out, it might be fun and could be a bonus for transportation, etc.
Temporary rooms is the way to go, since in 3 weeks they won't be needed. Not sure what their plan is for them post-WC.
As for the 'no beer' thing, when I was in Genoa for a WC game in 1990, the city was dry for 24 hours. So it's not a rarity to keep soccer fans sober and (somewhat) under control.
What will be interesting to watch is if any groups get out of hand - how it will be handled. In Genoa, any unruly fan before the game was instantly surrounded by about a dozen police/military and taken away.
Then there's these other restrictions that will also test the Qatari's legal system.

Sorry to hear your plans fell through. I'm sure it would have been a memorable experience even if you can't drink in the stadiums.
I do worry about the typical football violence that seems to always happen with some traveling "fans". I heard riot police were already having to push back unruly crowds.
No alcohol. Riot. With alcohol. Riot.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How much is Ecuador getting paid to throw the game?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Apparently not enough. They won, while their fans spent most of the game chanting ”we want beer!”
Whatever you do, always give 100 %!
