Socks & Puppets

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Things don't look good for Puck Dynasty tonight - better call a MEDic.

Meds doesn't have the personality to inhabit multiple identities.

Some socks are gone, and apparently, the longer time posters who originated the socks are staying.

Are we going find out (officially) who was responsible for all the sacked socks ?

They should get the recognition they deserve.

Several of the socks were not much of a surprise, and in some cases the handlers told me about it.

It was really about letting things go in a slow summer after a shitty season.

Time to move on to a better team, better talk and look forward to the upcoming season.

It's all fine to live & let live, but false accusations of puppeteering and bogus claims of innocence should be cleared up. We don't want to encourage irresponsible behaviour. In the real world, actions result in consequences. Our society depends upon this. The thin edge of the wedge it is. Eager young minds are watching what you do today.

PS - Am assuming that you have the capability to check IP addresses against suspected socks, so that poster cooperation isn't required for outing socks.

To a degree, I can check IP's - but it's a bit of a task. Also, anyone can use a proxy server if they really want to hide their IP, it takes some work, but a lot of the deadwood is cleaned out now.

Hiding the real IP is enough effort that most prospective puppeteers wouldn't bother, & most socks wouldn't have the brains to implement.

Exactly. And that's the problem.

A short lived sock used for 'entertainment purposes only' with a short life span is just for fun. Creating a series of socks to use as 'support' for your opinion or to skew polls is just... sad.

I always thought it was fun to have some alts, but good point. :)
