The tenth time Sweden wins the world championship, but the first time we do it by beating Canada in the final!

Yes, and I understand these tournaments mean more to the Europeans (with North Americans busy with the SCF).

It's never good to see Canada lose, but I'd rather lose to Sweden than the fucking Russians or the greasy Americans.

Plus, we've won it a lot lately...

Maybe Edler carries this over into next year (with his new team?)

I basically don't like the concept of deciding a championship game with a penalty shootout, but this year it was all about Henrik Lundqvist showing up to win this with his twin brother, and by winning it in the shootout, he really took centre stage and was allowed to shine, denying all Canadian attempts. He was huge in this game, and the main reason Sweden won.

Lundquist for Karlson
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

"Real" hockey championships, cannot be decided in a shoot-out.
No sour grapes here though.......

Well, I basically agree. At least they played a full twenty minutes of ot before abandoning the true idea of hockey, and by that time I was already starting to think about having to work the next day. Thus, in a clear breech of traditional protocol, I actually welcomed the shootout.

Btw, earlier this year the Norwegians proved that the overtime-till-someone-eventually-scores concept can get exaggerated: http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/lon ... me-periods

One day, one day, maybe the league, in it's ultimate wisdom, (and greed for money), might come up with an idea
somewhere along the lines that: In a championship game or an NHL playoff elimination game, if you cannot decide it after two periods of overtime, PLAY ANOTHER GAME, like the next night or something like that.
Think of the extra revenue....
