Yup. We all hate the Russkies, so it makes perfect sense.

Plus it'd be cool to see how the Young Guns'd fare against Canadia... 8-)

Btw, the Finland thing is more like a sibling rivalry. And we're the big brother.
So even though we hate losing to them, and must win at any cost, we sort of feel sorry for them after we crush them. :?

And we give them some faint praise if they beat Russia.

He'll be fine. He has played against every crusher in the league right?

So, 3-0 for Russia, who will face Canada in the semifinal.

The poor Finns lost all three games and only scored one goal in this tournament.
Odd. I didn't think their team was that bad, but I guess since there aren't any really crappy teams in this tournament, and some one had to end last... :?

I've been hoping for a Sweden vs Canada final, and as the stars have aligned it seems that could very well happen! 8-)

That will be the best possible outcome. Team NA would have been fun and who knows, but the two real organized teams look like playing the final unless Russia pulls off an upset and I do not think they can.

The Russians have their game together a little better this time.
Canada will have to have it's "A" game today....

The Russians are an odd bunch. So much skill, so little team spirit.
A guy like Ovechkin can be coasting around most of the game, not helping out in the defense, and then suddenly he throws in another gear, and can single handedly win a game. It's just odd.

So, with the Russians you never know what you're going to get. If they decide to pitch in for the team, they're a formidable force of nature, and can beat anyone. But almost as often as that you get a bunch of moody stars that each has great skills but doesn't much seem to care about doing the blue collar gritty work that every team needs.

You seldom see that happen for other national teams.

Swedes, Finns, Canadians, even Yanks, always willing put in the hard work.
The Russians? Some times yes, some times no.
Is it some sort of locker room politics or what is it?

The Czechs are a special case. They rely heavily on playing a sort of trap with quick counter attacks. If they get an early lead, they are really hard to beat. If they get an early goal against, you can crush them completely, as they have a really hard time playing when they are forced to try to take charge of the game.
