Blah blah blah, hindsight is 20/20 RD. 14 players and SIX blueliners were taken before Karlsson. Clearly he probably should have been the no.2 pick overall. Doughty can't touch him imo, Doughty is good but not at that level. He's enjoying the extra space on the large rink but Karlsson brings it regardless of the rink size. Imagine how good he'd be if his achilles wasn't seared in half.

Atlanta took Bogosian 3rd
TO took Luke Schenn 5th!!!!
Columbus took Filatov 6th!
Nashville - Wilson 7th
Phoenix - Boedker 8th
Ilanders took Josh frickin' Bailey 9th!!!
Blackhawk geniuses took Kyle Beach 11th (hordes of Canucks fans everywhere were calling for Gillis to take Beach, maybe even you Dude....how could the Canucks have passed up Beach??????)
Buffalo lands a real gem at 12th w/ Myers <---imagine that! instead of Karlsson
LA steps up at 13th to secure their future w/ Colton Teubert! (the Kings could have had Doughty-Karlsson RIGHT THERE OMG!!!!
Carolina secures future HOFer Zack Boychuk at 14!

I hardly think its fair to rip Gillis on this one. I don't recall one single person wondering why we didn't draft Karlsson that day or even years after that. Easy to sit back now and point fingers. He wasn't alone. And if he was Karlsson would have gone 2nd or 3rd guaranteed.
Bogosian is a pretty good hockey player on a garbage team. Still would have taken Petro though. Karlsson might be the better offensive player but Doughty is miles better defensively and a lot more physical. As I say its a real toss up on all three for me as they are all phenomenal talents, just depends what a teams needs are. The book still isn't written on Pietrangelo either as he could easily move into the conversation as best player of this draft.

Kesler won't either.

Finland takes it 3-1.

For Canada and USA, it's Gold or bust.
And so it is

So, can any of you imagine a FIFA World Cup or Champions League final where they'd have a referee who's from the same country as one of the teams? :|

Pathetic. I have no doubt the refs will do their best to be impartal and professional, but still.
It's a joke.

And Devorski is one of the linesmen.... Maybe we had better bench Daniel and Edler...?

Bobby Ryan would have scored........but the USA was a team Burke built.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I think it might matter with the refs being all Canadian.

Although it wouldn't matter if Sutherland was Swedish, Canadian,Saudi, or Ugandan, he's the most useless ref in existence.

Hmmm, doubt all you'd like but the London Knights can boast a similar representation.

Tavares, Perry, Nash for Canada and Kane for the States.

And upon further examination Ryan Gardner is playing for the Swiss.

This Olympics I'm really beginning to wonder if the NHL should be there at all. in the past I was all for it, but the more I think about it the more it seems that a 5/6 game tournament played under international rules controlled by European political hacks... the more it seems to be an injustice to the sport.

Shootouts and single game knockouts are fine for sedate games like soccer but there are too many variables to leave to chance in a single game, 5 minute overtime and penalty shots.

Seven games series are the test of which team is better and that's what the world champion team should have to do to be crowned the very best. Beat the second best team four games out of seven. Stanley Cup style

I know it would be difficult to do but there should be qualifying series that take place over four years to eliminate the weak countries and leave the best half dozen teams in the world to have a proper tournament every fourth year which can be held in alternating countries played under the defending champion's rules and rink size.

The Olympics are too short, too political, and too much out of the hands of the people that actually know what they are doing when it comes to ice hockey...

my rant..

Yup. Not a single goal in their last two games. They sure could have used a goal scorer.
