That's 75% accurate (Volpatti would hafta go through waivers). :)

Except we lose this time.

Yeah, they had a couple of shifts together and looked alright.

Ballard has been much better this season. He still makes the odd cringe worthy mistake but he's more reliable and is consistently making the right plays.

The big test for him will come if there is an injury to a left-handed D in the top 4.

Can he handle tough minutes?

If he can, he'll up his value considerably.

Also a similar note on Schroeder.

Last night's two goal game on hockey night put him on the map. Teams will begin to pay more attention to him. It'll be interesting to see how he adjusts.

If Garrison or Hamhuis are injured Edler will move over and Tanev will move up.

If Edler or Bieksa get hurt Tanev moves up.

Thats why despite his improved play, Ballard will still get bought out this summer. He's a lefty with 3 other lefty's above him on the depth chart.

I'm not too worried about the blue line. On the team right now a couple of long term injuries would be a disaster but we've already seen a couple of serviceable bottom pairing guys move for pretty low prices this season.

If Jordan Schroeder continues to prove himself this year I'd wager that Mike Gillis targets defensemen at the deadline, otherwise we may see a blue liner and a center on his list.

Of course all that being said, I don't think there are too many teams in the league for which two injured defensemen is not a major problem.

12 games for anyone coming to the Canucks, assuming they arrive for the April 4th game that is. Otherwise, 11 games. As many as the team has already played.
The only HW the Canucks need
