Admire the effort that Ebbett gave for the 3rd goal - wow!

The Canucks could be up 5-0 easily - the Oilers haven't been able to generate much offence, and keep turing it over in their own zone.

Jeeesh - Edler played 9:15 in the 1st!

The Canucks need to keep the intensity up, the Oilers have a powerplay on a clean sheet to start the 2nd. With the Wild losing tonight, a win puts the Canucks 1st in the Northwest, and 2nd in the Conference.

Hmm, I need to see that replay again but it appears as though it was shoulder to shoulder.

Nice...sh goal....personally I didn't think the major was even a penalty. Looked shoulder to shoulder to me.

Oops 4-2..

Yeah, that was one of those hits where the player turns to the boards just as the hit is being delivered - but Weise didn't hit him in the numbers at all.

Judgement call as to whether that is a penalty at all - for sure no suspension.

Five and a game seems unfair.

Hard hits shoulder to shoulder....gotta stop them for sure. Why would anyone turn at the moment of contact towards what will hurt you? Reactive?

Nah - Plante's only playing his 2nd NHL game, I think. He just didn't anticipate what was coming, and turned to play the puck back up the boards. It would have been a routine hit if he had just braced himself still facing the corner.

Just noticed that Edler has played 17:33 after two periods - heading for a 26 minute night?

Was at the game. Although I didn't see anything wrong with the hit, that was one nicely busted nose there.

Game was alright, much better than the Calgary affair.

Oilers have no back end, but those kids of theirs are exciting to watch...

The hit looked fine to me. No charge, shoulder to shoulder. Plante turned into the boards just as contact was made. If he doesn't turn that hit becomes a great hit along the boards. I keep trying to find something wrong with it. The hit on Kesler against Detroit was a bad hit but this one?

Anyway, a good game to watch. Edmonton, for now, has replaced Calgary as the Alberta team I want to see. They have so much incredible young talent that when they get their defence straightened away they will give us a run for our money as divisional leaders.

A solid 1st period followed by a little coasting that cost us, well and that 5 minute penalty cost us. Then a solid enough 3rd to bring it home. Didn't see a lot of toughness out of Edmonton but sure saw a lot of speed and talent. Luongo was a good as he needed to be and our top two lines looked pretty good. Bottom 6 so so.

A fun game to watch.

And to take over 1st place is great. Should be a good second half.
The only HW the Canucks need
