In a baseball cup?! Man of many talents, eh? Maybe if he decided to just focus on hockey he'd get more games...Boston Canucker wrote: we've got a guy in ginger hair in a baseball cup

Right, well thank God he's so stellar that time of year, then.Per wrote:Not as much as games in May/June, they don't.Rumsfeld wrote: But hey, it's October -- and Luongopologists know damn well that games in October don't count.
How many games have you actually watched so far this year, Per?

I think every game counts when you're in the western conference. Teams are stronger and there are no gimmes. Do we want to be like Chicago last year? 97 pts. and hoping for someone to lose to sneak in the 8th spot?
On the bright side... hey how bout them d-men? Specially the KB twins eh wot?
Bingo, Bango, Bongo, 4uongo, Hammer & Edler is a -3go in one period. Manny now -4, KB3 now -4, KB4 now -5. Dare I mention Roberto's save percentage?

If Edler can ever start hitting the net with his slapper with any level of consistency he's going to become a legit threat from the blueline. Salo seems to have gained a little accuracy at least.Hank wrote:On the bright side... hey how bout them d-men? Specially the KB twins eh wot? Bingo, Bango, Bongo, 4uongo, Hammer & Edler is a -3go.
There's probably not much point, seeing as all blame for it will conveniently be attributed to the rest of the team.Dare I mention Roberto's save percentage?

Wow! Glad I missed that one - all of a sudden a 6 hour drive to Omaha back doesn't seem so bad.
Yadda yadda - still October, slow starts - yadda yadda. 2 weeks to November.

Good: Ballard looked composed & went for a skate at the right times.
Not so hot: Edler on the right; Samuelsson's decisions; adjustments up front.
Bad: Luongo played swimmingly, with a save percent over 80.

Can we just end the Sammy point experience already? It's like a beginner driving a stick shift, he's doing just enough with the gas and the clutch to keep from stalling while the passengers are crossing their fingers it doesn't die on a big sloping hill. Who keeps giving him the keys to the Ferrari?

I don't get AV, why is Salo not on the top PP group? He scares the shit out of every team with that shot and the players know they have to keep a guy high to stop that shot from going off which will open it up more for the Sedins down low, I also think they should keep Burrows on the first PP over Kesler, Having Kesler on the second PP gives it more bite.
Like i have said over and over AV is a average coach with a above average team, Could you imagine if we had a above average coach...

I miss Ehrhoff on the PP. He really slowed things down back there.

Hey man, Sammy can slow things down too. It now takes twice as long to gain the zone and twice as long to get a decent scoring chance.Rumsfeld wrote:I miss Ehrhoff on the PP. He really slowed things down back there.

Insane in the membrane to keep Sammy back there....sigh.Jovorock wrote:Two bad passes on the PP, stick to the top four d-man on the PPt_lind wrote:I haven't been following this thread.
Does anyone else hate Samuelsson on the point?!
Edler+Salo....Hamhuis+Bieksa....and even Ballard are all better choices.
The only guy who isnt is Alberts.

My first post.
I just had to find some way to vent some steam about our goalie situation. As my handle suggests, I am an "old" goalie, who's learned the "new" way to play so I can help my son in his development. I'm also an original Canucks fan ... I was in Grade 1 when Dale Tallon became my defacto first hockey hero, and I've suffered through EVERYTHING since.
The situation with Luongo is driving me nuts. We've got an abundantly capable Schneider who I'm hoping will get to start at least a couple in a row now.
Anywho, that's my first post. For those who are underwhelmed by it just remember, it's only October. I won't really get in my message-board groove until next month.

I wouldn't say stellar, but he was pretty decent; 15-10, four shutouts, 2.56 and .914.Rumsfeld wrote:Right, well thank God he's so stellar that time of year, then.Per wrote:Not as much as games in May/June, they don't.Rumsfeld wrote: But hey, it's October -- and Luongopologists know damn well that games in October don't count.
One more win and he would have been the toast of the town.
Not really a relevant comparisson, considering the vast difference in ice time, but his ginger backup had almost identical GAA and SVS%, 2.58 and .915, so maybe these numbers reflect the team as much as the goaltenders?
I personally think Schneider should get more games, but I guess the coaching staff thinks differently.
Can't really watch them as they insist on playing in the wee hours of the night and I work full time. I have to make do with highlights, and occassionally watching the third period over the internet before heading to work. Was a bit too stressed this morning to look for a connection, which in hindsight was probably just as well.....Rumsfeld wrote:How many games have you actually watched so far this year, Per?
Or wait, did you mean calender year? I did see a few playoff games!
