GDT: Kings at Canucks - 40th Season Opener

To me it's a special game tonight. Yes, I want revenge for the game that started it all. My parents were at that game, I remember listening to it, and my first hockey hate began that night. Kings suck!

It's time see how Gillis' moves pay off. The Kings will be a better team this year, so it should be a good match-up.

We've talked about it all summer, so there's really not much to say. but:

Both teams should be better than last year. I just hope an extended pregame ceremony doesn't sap the energy to start the game.

Two probable, or at least potential, division winners facing off. I could really see these guys, and Detroit, being what keeps us out of the top of the conference. So... why not get a few early points on 'em tonight. No one should make this out to be more than it is, just a game, but hey will be fun to get under way.

This home opening somehow will be more to remember than most I think.. especially when you include it with the coming year and all the other wonderful sports Vancouver has enjoyed recently.

It's a little more than that. It's a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the very first Canucks game. Against the same L.A. team. Let's hope for a different result.
It's also our first chance to see how the new players fit on the team, and how Lou responds with a new style of play.

Both teams will be clad in copys of their 1970 uniforms.

Fun game to watch despite the outcome. Luongo looked good - especially compared some of his other early season games.
