Ok, we're only down 2-1, so we don't have to play desperate hockey - yet.
This should be the game where the animosity comes in.We're a team that has speed and toughness - so let's use both and them off their game for a change. If they decide to park in the crease again, we need to respond. Our franchise player and captain deserves better.
We need the real Burrows to show up. I agree with whoever posted that the Bieksa/Alberts pairing should go. It's making me way to nervous to see them out there together. Although when Alberts gets thrown for putting Buttfuglyn through the boards, that will be solved.
It's hard to say whether we should just put shots 'on net', since they're blocking so many - or cycle the puck and get better shots (although they seem adept at plugging the passing lanes).
This game is where AV earns his money.

It's already here. You haven't noticed?Cornuck wrote:This should be the game where the animosity comes in.
A few tough players (like everyone esle has), but the Canucks are not a 'tough team'.Cornuck wrote:We're a team that has speed and toughness...
No doubt, some things need to change and quick.Cornuck wrote:...so let's use both and them off their game for a change.

Listening to 1040, Larschied says lines for tonight will be:
Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Raymond - Kesler - Grabner
Hansen - Wellwood - Samuelson
Glass - Johnson - Bernier
I have been hoping for this lineup for a while (although I would have had Demitra playing on the third rather than hansen. Still very interested to see how this will work tonight - got some speed on every line and that second is just a scorcher. Time for Grabner to show what he's got. Hopefully AV will give him a little time to adapt.

I don't mind those lines one bit.
It's time to give the Hawks a bit of their own speedy medicine. I think that their top pairing is doing a great job playing against the Sedins... but we'll see how their second and third pairings can handle the speed of that second line. The third and fourth lines actually look promising to me. Hansen knows what he has to do, and Samuelsson is the perfect guy to shoot from everywhere and create that scramble. I like Glass over Rypien and Hordichuk. The Hawks are afraid to fight... they yap and they yap but they won't drop the gloves.
Glass is tough enough to take them on if needs be, but he's also capable of causing some shit and crashing the net effectively.
Demitra hasn't shown me anything to think he should remain in the lineup.
Make it happen boys. 4-2 Canucks... D.Sedin, Kesler, Grabner, Glass.

Good call on Demitra. AV might have already made his money.

Note how many tough guys they used in the playoffs. Note how Buffalofucker wasn't an issue last year in the playoffs against the Wings. Note that this team has won ten playoff series the last four years, a Stanley Cup and a final appearance. All with a smallish team whose toughest player in the playoffs was Darren McCarty.
Get off the Hordichuk wet dream. He won't help the team beat the Chickenhawks.

Re: GDT: R2G4 - Canucks host Hawks - 6:30pm - CBC, VS
Absolutely love the lines. The Canucks need to emphasize offense and this is definitely a step up on game 3's lineup in that regard. I was going to make a post on what people thought of reuniting the Raymond-Kesler-Grabner line but am glad to see that is AV's plan. Although Grabner hasn't exactly lit it up, I really think that line could provide a spark to the offense and keep the Hawks on their toes. Thing is when you have a Samuelsson, Demitra, or Burrows patrolling that line it changes the dynamic completely. With Grabner in there, it really allows all three to generate chances off the rush. Definitely a big fan, if only for the fact that it provides a different dynamic to our offense. Given how differently the Sedins play, it forces the Hawks to adjust defensive styles every other shift. Maybe I'm over analyzing but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing them play tonight.
Call me crazy, but I think Grabner comes up big tonight. He's pretty hot and cold and I think he's due for a goal or two. Even if he doesn't pot one, I think he will generate some momentum with some dangerous chances. Guess you could say I'm a fan of infusing some skill in this lineup, and as much as I love Burrows, believe Grabner has a better chance of burning the 'Hawks with his speed and shot - wildcard factor.
Speaking of skilled players, good to see Demitra scratched. I thought he might actually play fairly well given that he's running out of chances for the Cup but his play has been disappointing to say the least. I think this is the best lineup we've iced all series.
Absolutely pumped for this one.

Boris - You're in a headspace all of your own but since you lived in Coquitlam and I get a laugh from some of your posts, I'll answer that. Bieksa, Edler, Erhoff and O'Brien, that's who. They have to play better, hold their positions in their own zone and not run around when the Chickenhawks forwards cycle the puck in Vancouver's end. They have to emulate the positional play Detroit did in last season's playoffs and how Pittsburgh's defence played in their drive to the Stanley Cup. Remember the Pens D last year was an injured, aging Gonchar, Orpik, Eaton, Scudari, Gill and Letang. The Canucks current D is mediocre at best, especially without Mitchell but Pittsburgh's D last season was only slightly better yet they still won the Cup because they got maximum performance from those players on D. The Canucks need to do the same. Improvement has to come from within.Arachnid wrote:mr perfect wrote:Here is the Detroit Red Wings lineup over the past four seasons:trouble wrote:Still rather have Hordi in the lineup

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am sensing a win tonight. Why? Now I'm not sure if it's like this in any other province, but in Ontario, the caps on Bud Light bottles have NHL team logos on them. Well I went out and picked up a 12 pack for tonight. I started emptying the box, 2 at a time. I only opened half of the box, so I couldn't see the tops of the last 6 bottles. When I got to the last two bottles, what do I pull out? Two, YES TWO, bottles with Canucks logos on them.
Tonight, the Canucks win.
Tonight, the Canucks win.

Since your reading comprehension, understanding and listening skills are practically non existent, I'll type slowly and try to put it in crayon to you so you'll understand. In game 5 of last season's playoffs at home against the Chickenhawks, the Canucks tried to goon it with them and lost the game 4-2 by spending time in the penalty box and having Buffalofucker and gang score on the PP. Hordichuk played in that game and it made no difference. In game 3 of this series the Canucks retaliated, put Rypien and O'Brien on the ice and the Chickenhawks still won 5-2. You know what the score would have been with Hordichuk in the lineup? Probably 7-2 'Hawks. The one team who regularly beats Chicago is Detroit and they do it with skill and discipline. Maybe the Canucks should ice their most talented lineup and try to do the same, no?trouble wrote:We are not the Red Wings you stupid Fuckmr perfect wrote:Here is the Detroit Red Wings lineup over the past four seasons:trouble wrote:Still rather have Hordi in the lineup
