SOB has the best +/- on the team (+4)
Edler has the worst (-7)
Rome is tied for 2nd worst in less half the games of Edler (-4 in 4 games)

Encouraged by Lou's play and Grabner's goal.

SOB having best +/- with us having the worst PK might have something to do with each other.

How so? You don't become a minus if scored while killing a penalty.

????? +/- has nothing to do with PK or PP... its a measurement of the amount of goals scored 5 on 5 for and against while the player is on the ice.. SOB's vastly improved +/- is a result of hard defensive work.. Edlers very poor record in the same department is a sign that he is not able to play well defensively with the extra work load put on him this year..+/- game to game can be a product of bad luck.. but over any long term is a very indicative indicator of the players ability on both ends of the ice..

So SOB plays protective minutes. His +/- is through the roof.

Guess what, he still takes penalties at the wrong times. Most, if not all his penalties were while we were putting on the pressure.

SOB has a grand total of 10 minutes in Penalties in 9 games.. what is that 1 minute per game????

Just looking at the game stats.. He has taken 5 minor penalties .. Only once did we give up a PP goal and that was on the 1st of October against Calgary..

trouble, go through the game tapes and look at "when" SOB takes the penalties, it's usually at the wrongest times. Momentum breakers is like buzz killers, their no fun.

Opinions and reputations have inertia. It could be that SOB is getting penalties on reputation from last year. I hope that's not the case, but refs are human. Impressions creep in.

From the fan's (eg Jelly's) perspective, it may take Shane another six games of improvement to overcome the past damage.

honestly, from my perspective.

It would take SOB not taking penalties at the wrong times. If someone tries to run Luongo, I want SOB to jump in and pound the guy, that`s a penalty we can afford. SOB needs to know that he hasn`t scored in like 100+ regular season games because he just isn`t that guy, if he plays to his abilities, it would just be so much better for the Canucks.

If he just plays simple, instead of trying to deak around people when we all know he can`t. Then it`s so much better for everyone. He`s too focusing on offense right now, he`s like a Jovocop with out the offense.
