Canucks @ Edmonton - 7pm SNet - Sundin!

Post by Cornuck »

There is a very good chance that the Canucks will play Mats Sundin tonight. In other words, "This is the moment we've been waiting for".

Of course another recent addition has made a big impact. Jason LaBarbera has a 1.90 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage in three starts for us, so if the team can give him some support in the goal scoring department, he'll start to improve on win-loss record.

The Oilers are coming off 2 consecutive wins while we've got two OTL's to be callled a 'streak'. I think that we're due for a win tonight.

I'm looking forward to this one. It will be interesting to see how the team plays with Sundin in the lineup.

The Oilers are missing Hemsky. The Oilers have given us trouble this year.

On to predictions: Stortini gets a punch in the teeth courtesy of O'Brien. 'nucks win 3-1 with goals by Bernier, Wellwood and Hordichuk (he is turning into a scoring machine). Sundin gets 1 assist and plays 12 minutes.

I fully expect the Oilers to try to goon it up in Hemsky's absence - they'll take runs at the Sedins, Demitra, Wellwood and our entire defence knowing how brittle we are back there. With the exception of that Boxing Day game, the Sedins have owned the Oilers - that means they should each rack up 3-4 points to make up for it... 5-2 Van.

As fed up of the Sundin saga as I was, I think I'll stay up and watch this one. I think the Canucks need a win here in the worse way. La'Rob'ya has been stellar for the Canucks and they only got him 1 win so far. I feel like they need to do it for him tonight.

Nothing would make me happier than a regulation win tonight - we need to keep pace with Calgary here as winning the Northwest Division is imperative.
I can't wait to see Sundin's impact on Wellwood and Raymond. And we all know the Sedins (and Demitra) will terrorize the Oilers D on the cycle, as per usual.

3-0 Canucks.

I have not looked forward to a Canucks game as much as this game since they last played a playoff game....
With two good lines, I can't see the Edmonton defenseman match ups being a problem for the Canucks...we shall see...
I don't think any team can 'goon it up' with the way the Canucks are now...it will not effect the way the Canucks play..
I predict Sundin will have an instant impact on the PP....I can see him getting 2 pts tonight ....
Its almost like the season is just beginning!!

I've finished shovelling snow, I got my Jim Beam & Coke in hand, let's get a WIN!!

He looks calm and collected so far. Not panicking, making rushed plays or gripping the stick too hard.

I guess he's not destined to play any shorthanded time in his first game and that's what they did.

ps: Ouch, Ohlund took a heavy punch from Souray, that hurts for sure, i wonder how much his mouth is swelling now.
