Right, "put the game out of reach", as if our guys were going to score 2, 3 or 4 goals in five minutes. Don't forget the Oil are no slouch at comebacks, they actually have some firepower even with Hemsky and Horcoff out of the picture, and unlike some teams they don't give up when behind by a few.
It wasn't like it was the end of the third period, it was mid-second period. I don't care if it's an important game, you have to defend your teammates especially on something as egregious as Roy's hit. It may have put some more life into the team, or it may not have. The fact that they weren't able to score on the ensuing powerplay may be moot, but the lack of coming to the defense of one's teammates isn't.
And just to clarify, I don't think I ever intimated that the Oil were an easy win.
