What a freaking game eh?

After the first period that couldn't have been more awesome. I even got to watch it considering it was on TSN.

Great way to start off a birthday!

GAME REPORT: NUCKS NIX DUCKS

Post by B. Mackin »

Canucks 4 Ducks 0
Bob Mackin

The Buzz:
The Vancouver Canucks showed why they’re better off without Todd Bertuzzi when they embarrassed the Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks 4-0 at General Motors Place last night. Ryan Kesler scored two and Roberto Luongo had his second consecutive shutout.

Goat of the Game:
Ducks’ goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who was driven from his net in the third. Swiss rookie reliever Jonas “Who?â€￾ Hiller stopped Henrik Sedin’s feather duster penalty shot in the final minute.

Turning Point:
Bertuzzi, making his first appearance as an ex-Canuck, missed a breakaway early in the second period and then missed checking former linemate Markus Naslund at the other end on the same sequence. Naslund subsequently scored the game’s first goal.

Called Out:
Chris Pronger’s flagrant cross check on Kesler after number 17’s first goal went unpenalized because referee Dan O’Halloran was busy signaling the goal.

Sin bin:
In the first minute of the third period, four Ducks jammed the penalty box. For those keeping score at home, it was George Parros, Sean O’Donnell, Andy McDonald and Chris Pronger, from left to right.

X-file:
Regina-born Duck Ryan Getzlaf brought the Stanley Cup home to Regina last summer. Brother Chris is a member of the Grey Cup champion Saskatchewan Roughriders’ practice roster.

Next up:
Ex-Vancouver Giant Gilbert Brule and the Columbus Blue Jackets provide the Canucks their last opponent of November at 7 p.m. Thursday.

But be aware, they blackened out about the last 10 minutes af the game. Don't know where the problem was (TSN or NASN ?).

So i had to run home to listen to at least the last minute on team1040.

RINK RAT UPDATE

Post by B. Mackin »

He emerged from the north end and went all the way south, delaying work by the ice maintenance staff. He eventually did a counter-clockwise perimeter run, pausing at the penalty bench circle and near the trapezoid behind the south net.

Canucks' photographer Jeff Vinnick, who earlier Tuesday was shooting the Vancouver 2010 mascot introduction ceremony in Surrey, worked overtime and captured the rodent in megapixel form.

The clicking of the shutter, not to mention Vinnick's height, forced him back to the north end where staffers were waiting with a garbage bin and shovel. One press box wag said "there's the Olympic mascot!"

That, ladies and gentlemen, is the latest chapter in the long history of rats and NHL hockey, which includes the career of Ken Linseman and the infamous 1996 Florida Panthers, who were propelled by rat power, thanks to Scott "The Exterminator" Mellanby.

Thoughts on the game
"I'm disappointed. We really came out in the first... For some reason going into the second we backed off."

On his first game in Vancouver as an ex-Canuck:
"It's out of the way, time to go on for everyone... It was nice to be back and see a lot of familiar faces."

Good game after the first, thats why we pay Lou the big bucks. a goal in the first could have deflated the team, instead Lou stands tall and we come back with a 3 goal 17 shot 2nd period... man if this team can keep on this roll again it'll look like the last half of last season all over again... a very good thing! It's been all around great hockey lately too, gotta love this team!
