Topper, could the goals against have been balanced between these “styles” by the team controlling play and driving more offense, thus limiting chances against, whereas the latter half of the season saw the opponent with more some time but the defensive play was stepped up to counter that?

Demko has always been a goalie who has done well against high danger chances, and our high flying offensive game did give up more of those, but fewer overall due to possession and zone time. Our low scoring defensive game has limited the high danger stuff but perhaps the uptick in low percentage scoring opportunities for the bad guys has allowed for more interference from the hockey gods.

Take our first two playoff games for example….

Nashville’s first goal of the series was an outside shot without much mustard that went off of Pettersson’s leg and high over Demko and in.

Their third goal of the series was a random deflection on a nothing shot from the point that changed directing in traffic and caught DeSmith going the wrong way as he was following the initial path before he lost it in the forest of sticks and legs.

Their fifth goal was off of a brain dead turnover that nullified Nashville being offside and permitted a high danger chance that resulted in a juicy rebound easily knocked into the net.

Only Forsberg and O’Reilly have scored goals that can be attributed to skill and/or a goaltending whiff.
