Quite enjoyable seeing the beantown beat-down.
I find it a little curious though how Gaudette still hasn't found the back of the net, and tonight, he was set up point blank. I was inclined to think that a Hobey Baker award winner would put the numbers up; afterall, look at Gaudrea! But it's simply an erroneous assumption to make that because a player puts up the numbers in the minors, or college, that it will equate to numbers in the bigs. I know that Green has him playing a pretty good system, i just expected more i guess... I'm a little surprised.
call him Jake
Gaudette is rushing his finish. Lots of crest shots.

He is far more intelligent in the zone than Virtanen. Knows where to be and how to get there. He needs to shoot 250 pucks a day in the offseason.

Jake's skills -- shot with room, skating (obviously), one on one battle ability -- are all good (and better than Gaudette's). Too bad his hockey IQ isn't. It is why he shouldn't play with Pettersson. Horvat is more of a make things happen right away guy, something Jake gets, and if Jake's gonna crack the top 6, it will be with Horvat.
Each has their unique skills and Jake brings hitting which is needed on this team. There is nothing wrong with his IQ he is just a different player with a different style. Gaudette should be given the same opportunity to play in the NHL as others, i.e. JV.
Reef, he is a different player. And he's got many attributes. The IQ isn't one, and if he had it, he'd be producing 50-60 points a year no problem. Because his hands are okay, his skating (speed, anyway) and size are a plus, his tenacity/one on one battle is a plus when he's focused. Knowing where to go with the puck (distribution) and anticipating the play when his teammates have the puck is what he lacks. The style of play he excels at is not overlapping in what he isn't good at. Improving his O-zone IQ will not take away from the counterattack, forecheck, hitting, shooting on the rush, etc.

I was referring to an earlier Jake who would have several good chances, but rarely found the back of the net. Patience is paying dividends. Jake's play away from the puck is getting much better (it couldn't get much worse- Lennon and McCartney). Having Rousel and Schaller around as role models is helping.
I see your point and agree. It is getting better, it started from near zero, and I think you'd agree there is much room to grow still.

Gaudette is getting chances, he's just thinking too much, probably gripping his stick with a lot of tension, rookie nerves, once he relaxes and plays the game with "fun" he'll start capitalizing, worth noting he's doing the little things well - with a good CF percentage to back that up, 50.8% CF @ evens.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

Yeah, I'm not concerned with Gaudette's lack of production on the scoresheet. I think Greener just wants him to focus on playing a strong 2-way game and not be a liability out there, which he seems to be doing. Gaud's minutes are also kind of limited right now and he playing mostly with our plumbers, so O is not really expected from him. That being said, I hope Beags and/or Sutter will be back sooner than later, so Gaud can continue to develop and get more experienced in Utica.

Fuck the Utica shit,i want him to get as much NHL experience as possible.
The goals will come.
As long as he keeps progressing i see no reason to send him down.

Agreed but he needs to start getting more ice-time. If Bo is the gold standard for what a newbie who deserves to stay in the NHL should get, then Gaud is 2 minutes a game short. He even has less ice time than McCann and Virts did in their first seasons. Early days still though.

Yup! count me in too. When Brock is back it may open up the opportunity for the team to come up with three lines that can score
and I would expect for Adam to be part of that.

He wasn't much of a threat in this one at all.

Was Krug trying to get himself killed?

My kind of game, we light up the Bs on the scoreboard and our guy manhandles one of their star players. Just only like 7 years late. @_@

How many games does Gaudette have to play b4 he loses his rookie status? I'd rather see him comeback strong next season and contend for the Calder trophy. 2018-19 rookie of the year: the Swedish Gretzky. 2019-2020 rookie of the year: the Hockey Gaud. Back to back Canucks! That being said, I wouldn't mind calling Gaudette up for the playoffs if he's clearly the best player to help us.

He's played 12 this year and 5 last year, so i guess the rookie status is gone

Huh? I would assume it is gone at the end of this season.

Dang, k. Thnx doods. I guess if he's clearly the best player to help the team, then play him. I don't see much room for him when Beags + Sutter comes back though.
