I was excited to Boeser get going, but after the pre-season - I have to say I haven't been more exited about a rookie since Bure.

Kinda funny how we were so excited about Hutton, Virtanen and McCANN 3 years ago.

Yeah, it just speaks for our draft history
Excited would be overstating it - Rats is right - "hopeful" when it came to Jake - McCann never showed me anything to get interest about - and Hutton? :D

More hopeful than excited I think. There is a definite difference with EP
Yeah. It’s only 2 games in, but the kid’s hockey IQ is just insane. I don’t think we’ve seen his level before in a Vancouver jersey. Pavel was raw athleticism and scoring talent, but he was an all offense, high speed player, who succeeded because nobody could keep up with his speed. Then you had Hank and Dank who thought the game like savants, but they had their way and none other and only clicked with a handful of other players (King, Carter, Bur).

This kid can push the pace and slow it down, he has scoring instincts that rival Bure’s and an awareness that makes me think of the all time playmaking greats.

If Jimbo gets the chance to draft Jack Hughes we will have some INSANE depth down the middle in a few years.

There are several things to like about Pettersson.

The hockey IQ. He seems to be aware of where everyone is at the ice at all moments, and furthermore - he seems to know where they'll be a moment later. He understands where the puck will end up. To me it looks like a sixth sense. But it is something that the best players in team sports have, and something that I think is very hard to learn. You either have it, or you don't. He has it.

The shot. It's hard, it's accurate, it's quick release. Look at his first NHL goal ever, against Mike Smith. Smith barely had time to react before it went in top shelf over his shoulder.

And he shoots hard accurate one timers on the power play. What's not to like?

His passing. Not only does he seem to know where everyone is at all times, he can also deliver tape to tape passes through traffic. Or look at that pass without looking to Goldobin.

Brilliant. He makes the players around him better by feeding them excellent passes at the exact right time.

His unpredictability. He very often choses the unexpected. Like when he dangled through the Calgary defense and forced a penalty.

Or that goal against the Swiss at the world championship.

Or even, going back to his first career NHL goal, where he keeps looking at the other forward, making both the d-man and Smith convinced that he will make that pass, and then goes top shelf more or less without looking.

Any of these traits would have made him a great player. That he possesses all of them is just incredible.
If the Canucks can just get the defence on track, we have a very bright future ahead of us!

Bad coaching decision . Last game our worst line was Bo's ... So he staarts the game with Bo's line . We lose the faceoff nobody cnhecks and the pucksin our net 😪
My hippocampus is a shriveled remnant of its once-mighty self, but I was pretty sure that Sutter took the opening face-off for the Canucks. I was able to find corroboration that he lost the face-off that led to the first goal, anyway.

You're just biased because he's Swedish. Next you'll be telling us that Boeser is probably Swedish too! (the blonde hair gives him away).

Nah, Boeser is a German name. It means angry or evil.
But sure, he is also part of the Canucks' promising future. 8-)

Basically the same as Abrahamsson, ie son of Abraham, but using the Arab version of Abraham and the Slavic patronym form.
Same same, but different.

Well, I have pale green eyes, but fairly dark hair (albeit not black).
When I studied in Valencia I could pass for a local.

Yet I was in Colombia once, back in the 1980's, when tanning was the norm.
I was hanging out at a pool with some Colombian friends, and this was late August, so I was quite tan.
One of the Colombians asked, "why do they always refer to Scandinavians as fair skinned? You're as dark skinned as us."
Well, it's summer, I said. "What do you mean it's summer?"
Well, in the winter I look like this I said, and pulled down the side of my swimming trunks.
"Pull it up! Pull it up! You're blinding us! Fuck, you're whiter than an aspirin!"

That's probably the worst scorn I've suffered for being white.
