So, in the 3rd, did anyone see Beagle play 5v5, or just on the pk? (Not complaining, but didn't notice)

Hutty seemed to log alot of minutes tonite. He must have been used like 1/2 the game. Wonder if he's winning Greener's favour.

MDZ had a terrific game, that was not a boarding penalty.

Guds was physical all night, had a strong showing on the PK.

Bo is good, real good. Baer Bo n Brock have a lot of chemistry.

Hutton is as dopey as he looks.

Marx had a strong game.

Motte with another good showing.

I'd like to see Jake get a shot on Eli's wing.

Facts, but for now it will be Edler on point on the powerplay until late March when Hughes likely signs if his team doesn't go all the way.

On another note, as much as I hate to say it - maybe IN is right about Virtanen becoming the next Torres, where JV will top out as a 20/20 type with thunderous checks from time to time, but like Torres in 2011, he'll be a superb key cog in providing energy and grit on the 3rd line.

2011: Torres - Malhotra - Hansen.
Feb. 2011:
So what has been particularly encouraging for the Canucks of late is the play of third-liners Raffi Torres, Manny Malhotra and Jannik Hansen.

Mired for much of the season in an offensive funk, one that was masked by the team's success, Vancouver's third line is showing signs of springing to offensive life. And that can only mean good things as the Canucks inch toward the playoffs, now only eight weeks away.

"If you are going to go a long way, you need those kind of guys to contribute and get big goals and play physical," Sedin said. "So it's huge for us."

http://www.vancouversun.com/third+line+ ... story.html
Torres starting score 20 goals when he turned 22 years of age, which just happens to be Virtanen's current age since August.

Now if Virtanen can stop hitting the posts and crossbars every other shot.

2020: Gadjovich - Gaudette - Virtanen.

--

I think Leipsic & Goldy have earned a spot, Granlund being versatile to play LW/C/RW might help him.
Dahlen shows flashes of brilliance here and there, I think he'll play better if paired with Pettersson again, JD on the bubble imho, but if he goes down to Utica, he'll be called up in no time.

Green giving Motte some love.

Defense is a bit of concern, but with no options to improve via trade, they are going to try to force Hutton to be better, be nice to have a healthy defense for the majority of the season for once.

Marky showing why he'll be the starter.

Horvat shook off the rust this game, now it's Boeser who has a bit of rust to shake.

BearCheese back.

Tanev the silent ninja dman showing his elite defense suppression skills.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Hutton played a great third period. Best in years.
MDZ, best period as a Canuck.
Tanev rocked in the third as well.
It was a hell of a third period that had most of the character building ingredients present.
Played like a team, had each other's backs. All that and some developing chemistry too.
As soon as Brock feels 100% confident his back is good, he'll let some of the extra weight drop off and pick the speed of his game up.
It will not take long now.
In retrospect, that incident was very, very serious and not that far away from being the end of a young career.
Sincerely hope that tape and others like it are still being looked at by the league.
The doors have always been a danger, not to mention an opportunity for predatory psychopathic nut heads.

Had a second look at the game and stats.
Green worked Huttons butt off for over 30 min.
Hutton played very well defensively but proved not to be good offensively.
Petterssen is terrible at faceoffs averaging 18% ..
Non of the Canucks centers got 50% on faceoffs.
Best was Beasley at 47% then Granlund at 45% and Bo at 43%
Is Maholtra still on staff to improve faceoff % ?

MDZ had the most hits @ 8 followed by Archibald at 7 then Jake @6
Petterssen was the main objective of Kings hits .
Suggested changes .
A line of Petterssen, Granlund ( for f/o ) and Jake
Leipsic to replace Dahlen , Sutter replace Beasley on 3rd line
Beasley on 4th.

Goldobin, Brisebios, Dahlen, Pettersson, Juolevi and Gaudette have been the best of the young kids. Motte and Leipsic and Bouchard get longer looks at camp. Granlund and Gaunce have showed well as well as Schaller. It’s going to be a battle making the cut. IMO Goldobin deserves a spot on the team.

Sad to say, when it comes to hockey IQ, Virtanen is up there with your David Booth’s. He simply does not know what to do when without the puck and when he gets the puck there’s no plan, just pure knee jerk. At best he’s a Raffi Torres, Jannik Hansen. LA’s Kempe who is a fellow draft class mate of Jakes, now that’s a player I’d much rather have than ole Jake, hell, even draft class mate Goldobin has a tool box Jake can only dream of.
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Wasn't Jake's best showing but I'm not giving up on him.
I know Green grounded him in the third, BUT;
It kinda was his shenanigans in the early third that lit the light, no?
