GDT: April 9 Canucks at Oilers - The Final Stand - 6pm - SN

Post by rockalt »

Haven't posted a GDT thread in a few years so figured I would get in on the action.

https://www.nhl.com/oilers/news/preview ... -288599928

No word yet on who the Oilers are resting though I wouldn't expect a Team B considering they still have a shot at the division (that must mean something to them.... when's the last time they won? Late 80s?). Only confirmation so far is that we get their backup tonight (blegh)!

Predictions?

I expect us to tie it late and lose in OT. New Jersey will of course lose, dropping us from second to fifth best odds!

I've added a poll to see how many are actually rooting for a win tonight.

Yan Pavel Laplante makes his debut.
He's a tough little prick apparently but not much of a player.
Go Coilers!!!

Lose worse than you've ever lost...zero shots and own goals.

So what does that bring our total to for the season? 127 players used? :D

MVP this year is the guy stitching the names on the jerseys (could have saved a lot of time by using 'Placeholder')

Now that's a good joke.
Seriously though, never, never seen so many in one year.

Just checked the NJ game. They aren't even trying.
2-0 Wings. Shots 16-5, still in the first. No need to watch any more.

The Oilers will beat us, wont they?

So if we add in Laplante tonight, that will give us 37 skaters for the season - tying our roster record for 2010-11, 99-00 & 97-98. But if you add in goalies, then it will be 40 (compared to 39 in 10-11) which would not match the years 99-00 & 97-98 (5 goalies each year!) for a total of 41 players.

Bonus trivia question: Who was the last non-Euro to lead the Canucks in scoring? And which year?

Just accept it, Rats. The Canucks are cursed when it comes to this sort of scenario.

Last year it was the curse of the 1970 draft. This year it's the curse of the 1971 draft. 71 - 17 - 71 - 17. It's in the tea leaves

6-5 Oilers

Boeser, Horvat, Goldobin combined for 5 goals.

Tryamkin delivers a Scott Steven open-ice hit that sends McDavid to the IR list.
