Transition, Retool, Rebuild... Whatever you wanna call it, the Canucks are in it. Did you all honestly think the Sedins would never get old? Gillis left Linden and Benning a shit show, it's not going to get fixed over night, patience if you can hack it, piss your bed if you can't. Just keep coming up aces at the draft like you have been, Benning, and we will be fine.

The positive - WD didn't bench the kids down the wire. He's learning.

I'd be real happy getting one of Matthews, Pujujarvi, Tkachuk, Chychrun. Either or

Its become apparent that the Sedins are just as good at 3 on 3 as they are at shootouts !!
too slow and too easy to read.. and defend against..
pp ? Has the first line scored as many pp goals as they gave up shorties?
So time to give the kids and the speedsters a chance ?
Hansen is having a good year.. and McCann too.. Add Hutton for the 3 on 3..
WTF is Weber doing out there on 3 on 3.. guys useless defensively ..

I thought that too, until I saw that he played over 5 minutes on the PP. Not sure why Hutton only got 52 seconds on the man-up situations. Special teams are killing us. That PowerKill got Montreal back in the game, completely swung the momentum, and once it was 3-2 you knew the Canucks were gonna blow it.Hank wrote:Yeah, neither is Weber playing 20 minutes... that's even more than Hamhuis.Island Nucklehead wrote: Cracknell and Dorsett at 15/16 minutes per isn't exactly a Topper recipe for success.
Baertschi with the team-low 7:29 (at least he played more than Semin - who's completely lost his spunk -). Shinkaruk (9:35) must really be hating the waiver requirements. It's a big jump from $70,000 to $925,000.

And the bizarre - Canucks are 2nd in the Pacific, 5th in the western conference.

A few comments;
A much better effort than the previous few games. As rats noted in another thread, tough to watch a lack lustre gaff prone effort from the vets. Last night was much better. I can live with games like last night. Entertaining competitive hockey unlike the previous two efforts.
Face it, the Habs are a much more mature and better team. The 3-0 score was more because the Canadiens were not checking. Once they woke up and took away ice from the Canucks, the outcome was inevitable.
Shrinkwrap really showed how much he missed by being sent to Europe with the Comets instead of hanging around with the big club. He had a miserable time adjusting to the speed of the NHL game, but was slowly getting up to speed in the later going.
Do you think McCann wants a spot on the 1st unit PP with Daniel and Henrik?
As the Canadiens upped the pressure on the Canucks they forced Vancouver into soft backhand passes that became easy turnovers. far to much Vancouver procession was with the puck on the backhand.
Rookies made rookie mistakes.......even the golden child Ben Hutton has begun to tarnish.
Stalwart defender Luca Sbisa and tent-pole centre Brandon Sutter can't get healthy soon enough.

Rookies , veterans and the coaching staff continue to make blunders . Thing is one of those groups will actually improve and cut down on those mistakes .
Tent Pole and Mongtard will improve the team by 5% . Whooppee!! If not for the putrid effort of the Pacific teams his club would be in the basement where they belong .

Yes I will be very happy with a top 5 pick . I also don't want to see them getting blown out which they aren't so it's a win - win situation with the youngsters getting NHL minutes which will pay dividends two to three seasons down the road . Flog Hammer, Prust and Radim for picks at or before the deadline and give Gaunce and Pedan a look sometime this season .Topper wrote:Isn't that were you have wanted them all along?

I've been wondering for the last couple of weeks where McCann's point totals would be if he was playing with talented and speedy wingers. Mostly thinking along those lines because McCann and McDavid were considered 1 and 2 going into the CHL and then McDavid took off and McCann dropped big time in the draft (lucky us). Now McDavid, before he got hurt, was playing with fast skating, offensively talented, wingers and nearly at a point per game.Topper wrote:A few comments;

After 13 games McCann had 5 goals and 2 assists while playing the majority of his time with Prust, Dorsett, and Cracknell. When McCann has gotten a chance to play with talented linemates he has produced.
After 13 games McDavid has 5 goals and 7 assists while playing the majority of his time with top 5 draft picks like Hall and Yak.
It is interesting to note that the difference in their point totals after the same number of games is in the assist column.....which generally is effected by the scoring ability of your linemates. I don't think McCann is as good as McDavid, but I think this might lend itself to the school of thought regarding McCann in that we got a really good steal deep in the first round, there certainly could be a very good replacement for Hank in a couple of years who is currently playing on our 4th line.
