So much for going perfect against the Oilers again this season.

Two regulation wins in six games . This team would be fucked without the loser point .

Yeah Dank's lob wedge instead of a putter ended up costing a point in the end.Hockey Widow wrote:That just should not have happened.
First loss against Oilers for Miller, now 12-1
2 streaks were broken - first St. Louis' first regulation win over us in forever, now the Oilers. What concerns me is that both teams were on night 2 of B2B's and the Canucks couldn't put it together to get 3 or 4 points at home.

I don't think so...this is tough league...every team is really good.Blob Mckenzie wrote:Two regulation wins in six games . This team would be fucked without the loser point .
And I thought Edmonton was real good tonight. I thought we battled hard, had some real good chances. Power play had some real good looks. We came up short, really wanted the 2 points but we'll take the one and move on.
Just have to learn from it and head into Washington ready to work.

Just a hunch but something tells me that Island Nucklehead wouldn't have the balls to post the way he does if it weren't for Blobby McKenzie. It's like Blobby is his personal security blanket. Pretty fuckjng lame chicken shit stuff if you ask me

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Just sayin', we played our best hockey thus far vs Calgary, Anaheim and Kings, 2 of those games had McCann in over Virtanen.
With McCann in the lineup it gives us more options as Sutter can play on the top line and take faceoffs for Hank which gives him more rest for the long season.
As for the 3 on 3 / powerplay - time to hand the reigns to Hutton slowly but surely, he's our only dman with some hands to make plays/passes and transitional play.

No need to yank Virtanen for McCann - play both of them . The difference between Virtanen and the bottom 4 or 5 wingers on the team is negligible. He will improve while most of them ( I throw Baertschi in this mix ) will not . Play the kids if they are this close and dump the vets for pick/prospects between now and the deadline . McCann is the 4th best centre in the organization and therefore he should stay . Adam Crackpipe is not a natural centre but is ideal to keep around as a 4th liner or extra forward .

True, than as WD said if players over perform they will make room further concerning vets, which means Higgins could get dealt somehow after when he gets back from injury, or some other vet.Blob Mckenzie wrote:No need to yank Virtanen for McCann - play both of them . As I said before should/could be an interesting next couple of weeks regarding the roster lineup.

Major problems with this one.....
The PP, obviously. Sedins and Sutter look good out there. Both Hank and Dank moving more, and passing, and Sutter moves around and creates a good net presence. Vrbata floats weak-side for a one-timer but never goes into traffic and seems to read Hank/Dank late and always puts himself behind the defender and kills the passing lane. Edler.....fuck.....
Edler deserves his own paragraph. The play dies on his stick. Any time the Canucks get things moving and the PK shifting Edler gets the puck and slows it down. If he's not killing momentum that way he is bobbling the puck and it clears the zone or he is outright turning it over with a bad pass. His shots almost never get through, and when they don't hit a defender they miss entirely. If the pass isn't perfect he won't even try to one-time it. Those are just the deficiencies on the PP. At even strength his passes are abysmal and often behind the intended target. He doesn't hit much, and his exit passes are actually just clearing attempts around the boards. He will ignore a lane to the net in favor of a stupid pass or move for a poorer shot attempt. He is fucking horrible, and for once I absolutely hate the fact that I was right about a player. I would LOVE to see what Hutton and Tanev would look like as a pairing, demote special Ed to the 3rd pairing.
As much as I hate Edler on our team, this game is on Dank. Sure the puck was wobbling a bit, and yeah his stick got under it at precisely the wrong time, BUT.....if he had just gone straight to the net, instead of doing the Sedin peel off to the corner, he wouldn't have had to reach and extend to get the puck, and he would have just pushed it into the net. That was the difference right there, the perimeter tendencies of the Sedin game were the difference between us getting two points and the Oilers getting none. Horrible play there. Other than that the Sedins were actually pretty good and Edmonton's goalie had to play well to keep them off the scoreboard.
That first goal was a comedy of errors. Hansen didn't read it well, Sbisa with brutal gap control and misses a hit on McDavid, and the Horvat drops too low into the slot too soon while Hansen reads Bo's coverage late. Fuck around. But a real nice play by McDavid there to create the chaos and find Yakupov.
Bo really didn't have a great game, that third line just never found their legs it felt like. Baertschi took the benching in stride and was going to the corners, but that's about all there was to like about his game.
I hope that was the last time Hansen plays with the Sedins. I don't know what it is that Willie likes about that look, and I hope that was just talk for the media covering the fact that McCann coming out meant he had to shift things around. Hansen doesn't think the game enough, prime example was him blazing down the right wing after the puck into the Oilers' zone, Daniel somehow hit a burst of speed and was on the left side with a step on the Edmonton defender, and Hansen, head down, no awareness, just cranks the puck as hard as he can into Nillson who was two feet above his crease to challenge the shot. It's the little things like that.....Burrows might not have the speed, but he's definitely more aware.
Other than that one nice bit of stick handling to get out in front, Vrbata was useless. I really hope he can heat up a bit, mostly so he has 20 goals by the trade deadline and is trade bait for a pick or two.
There was about 5 minutes of each period where Edmonton had the run of play and their forecheck kept our defense reversing and scrambling. Other than that it felt like the Canucks controlled the pace of the game. Miller was solid and this is one that we should have won.

Tough loss, Dude. I understand that it's tough to handle a loss to McJesus and the Oilers, and you're just lashing out at other posters out of drunken frustration. It's okay though, today is a new day.RoyalDude wrote:Just a hunch but something tells me that Island Nucklehead wouldn't have the balls to post the way he does if it weren't for Blobby McKenzie. WD played for a point from midway through the first, poor Canuck fans at Rogers arena, I'm sure they preferred watching Cracknells line over Horvats line, that's what they paid the big bucks for. Horvats line was sabatoged by Clipboard Willie. If Willie is going to pull this shit all season long I have no interest in watching this team. He needs to stop thinking about his own job and start thinking for the better of this organization, long term. Right now, it's all about WD and scraping wins for a playoff birth only to get spanked out of the first round. Like We need that again.

This doesn't make a whole lot of sense...
Willie needs to win to keep his job. He also has to bring along the kiddies slowly and easily so that they don't end up like Hall, Eberle and Ted Nugent getting their ass handed to them on a nightly basis and becoming gelatinous goo under the pressure.
Jesus dude, youre a blue collar guy you must be familiar with the concept of an apprenticeship?
It's game what, six ?

Sounds like poor young buck McCann got cranked along the boards somewhere the other night and is a stiff and sore...
This might be the sign that we knew was coming and he needs a year in the gym and a fuck load of steak and arnies special blend of whey powder ...
It'll come for him though, he's got that nice shot to drool over

Although I agree with what you saying what I am worried about is that it has nothing to do with development of the team BUT only about making the playoffs. I would assume very few fans are delusional about this team's chance of winning the cup so what good is making the playoffs only to be bounced out in 5 - 6 games and pick middle of the pack again?ukcanuck wrote:RoyalDude wrote:WD played for a point from midway through the first, poor Canuck fans at Rogers arena, I'm sure they preferred watching Cracknells line over Horvats line, that's what they paid the big bucks for. Last nights game was perfect for the kids to play in, the opposing team had young players as well. Playing against LA/SJ or other physical teams I can see your point.
I still say that when it come to the development of the team vs. making the playoffs, making the playoffs is the #1 job of the owner the Sr. Management.
