GDT: 13/10/15 Canucks @ Kings 7:30pm SN
No line up confirmation from WD but it has been confirmed Virtanen to play tonight. His brother tweeted him wishing him luck. Virtanen later confirmed he is starting and his family is flying in to see him play.
Murphy said he has heard McCann sitting, WD does not want to play both the kids at once, at this point. It also stretches out the nine game look allowing both to practice and be with the team longer. But Murphy can't confirm for sure McCann is the scratch.
Last year Miller was 0-2 against the Kings. He needs to put to rest the ghost of Eddie Lack and come up big again. Although it hasn't been confirmed that he is starting yet.
Kings have picked up where they left off last year, losing. Makes me wonder if their play last year was affected by all the drug use, don't just mean Richards and that other guy something wrong in that dressing room. Lucic has fit right in. No shots on goal yet.
LA needs to get it going. They found out last year that their switch is broken. Let's hope Vancouver isn't their fix.
From TSN:
Canucks’ Jake Virtanen set for NHL debut
Frank Seravalli, TSN
Vancouver Canucks first-round pick Jake Virtanen will make his NHL debut tonight at against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center.
Virtanen, 19, was Vancouver’s sixth overall selection in the 2014 draft. He won a job in training camp, beating out Linden Vey in the process, but sat as a healthy scratch in the Canucks’ first three games.
Virtanen will sub in for fellow rookie Jared McCann, who scored his first NHL goal on Saturday night against Calgary.
By adding size and sandpaper to the lineup, Virtanen will help balance out the Canucks against the heavy Kings. Milan Lucic, playing against his hometown team, comprises one of the NHL’s strongest top lines with Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik.
Defenceman Yannick Weber and McCann will be the Canucks’ scratches.
Vancouver (2-0-1) is one of remaining 10 teams without a regulation blemish on their record through the first six nights of the regular season.

If this is correct, it's Dorsett who isn't playing..which would be an interesting choice against the larger kings.

Well it did look like Dorsett got hurt last night. That would make sense.

TSN is saying McCann and Weber out.
Ian MacIntyre has the lines as:
Daniel -Henrik - Vrbata
Burrows- Sutter - Hansen
Baertschi - Bo - Virtanen
Prust - Cracknell - Dorsett

I hope they swap Baertschi and Virtanen around. The off-handed winger gets more of the net to look at when shooting, and Virtanen has been a LW for quite a while, let him continue there for his debut.Island Nucklehead wrote:TSN is saying McCann and Weber out.

More importantly, they were swapped around in that game against the Oilers where that trio combined for 10 points.

#Canucks will skate Dorsett-Sutter-Virtanen together tonight. That means McCann out. Weber also out. Miller starts. As per WD.
No official word on the other lines yet.

I think they expect Virtanen to get challenged and skating with Dorsett may protect him while he gets his feet wet.Strangelove wrote:I wish those are the opening lines, but I'm hearing:Island Nucklehead wrote:TSN is saying McCann and Weber out.

Ckiller (Czech spelling) Cracknell with his second in 2.5 years. Another assist for Prust. Who needs the twins with those two?
